The skin, a protective organ …

It’s hard to feel good about yourself when your skin has imperfections. Skin reactions, small pimples, redness… The skin is the mirror of our emotions.

The skin is the largest of our organs: it represents approximately 1,73m² of surface area and 15% of our body weight. It is made up of three superimposed layers: the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis. Their role is to protect the organism from solar radiation and the environment.

THEepidermis is composed of keratinocytes (stratum corneum) and melanocytes (pigmentation). The germ layer gives rise to the stratum corneum, the most superficial and the thickest of the layers of the skin.

Le dermis houses the collagen fibers as well as the hair follicle. Its thickness varies depending on its location.

As for thehypoderme, it contains adipose (fatty) and cellular tissue. It is located below the dermis, itself located below the epidermis.
