Skin cleansing by type of face

Cleansing guide: how to wash and remove makeup based on skin type? Dariya Tyutcheva, Ph.D., dermatocosmetologist and trichologist at the Kraftway Clinic, an expert of the Clarisonic brand, told Woman’s Day about the do’s and don’ts.

Normal skin

One can: for the morning ritual, ordinary water is suitable, for the evening ritual – cleansing foam, gel, milk for removing makeup. For deeper cleansing, you can also use devices for the care and cleaning of the face – for example, peeling brushes with attachments for different types of skin, including normal. In addition, normal skin will benefit from contrasting washing, cleansing with soft non-abrasive scrubs, gommages.

You can not: wash normal skin with hard water (for example, spring water), and rub after washing with a towel.

Carefully: chemical peels at home.

Dry skin

Can: mineral, micellar or thermal water, as well as ordinary water at room temperature for washing. If desired, use herbal teas (such as lemon balm, sage, or chamomile). Cleansing milk with the obligatory mark “For dry skin” is suitable for make-up remover. Micellar water is best for removing eye makeup on dry skin.

You can not: soap and rough abrasive scrubs. The taboo also applies to products that contain alcohol, so always carefully look at the composition of tonics and lotions. Vaseline and cerazine, cleansing and whitening masks based on cosmetic clay, home peels with fruit acids are the enemies of dry skin.

Carefully: if your dry skin needs deep cleansing, discuss this issue with your beautician.

Oily skin

Can: the ideal cleansing scheme is to wash your face with plain water in the morning, and in the evening – a deeper cleansing with the help of special products (gels, foams) or electric brushes. For example, a Clarisonic skin care machine with a special brush for oily skin. The advantages of hardware cleansing are obvious: pores are well cleaned and narrowed, black spots disappear, and the structure of the skin improves. In addition, high-quality cleansing ensures better penetration of the cream and serum.

For cleansing oily skin, all kinds of scrubs, masks and peels are also suitable – both at home and in the salon. During the day, it will not be superfluous to have a spray with thermal water on hand or wipes to remove excess sebum.

You can not: wash with hot water, use cosmetics containing lanolin, glycerin and petroleum jelly, as well as alcohol tonics and lotions. The latter dry out the skin excessively, and it can perceive this as a signal to produce even more sebum.

Carefully: if rashes appear against the background of oily skin – acne, you need a consultation with a cosmetologist who will give tips on proper cleansing.

Sensitive skin

Can: All products for sensitive skin prone to allergic reactions must be marked “Dermatologically approved” or “Hypoallergenic”, otherwise, along with cleansing, you risk getting unwanted rashes. For washing, use spring, thermal or micellar water, as well as gentle foam or milk. Cleansing masks can be done once or twice a week, but in no case should you overexpose them on your face.

You can not: peels and scrubs with abrasive components, as well as film masks for deep cleansing of pores.

Carefully: “Natural” composition is not a reason to relax. Even chamomile and plantain can lead to allergic rashes, so herbal cosmetics should be used very carefully. The same applies to all kinds of home cosmetics – masks, creams made from products, fruits, etc.

Combination skin

Can: combination skin with dry areas and areas with increased sebum formation favorably perceives both ordinary water for washing and micellar water, but in both cases you should not rub your face too much with a sponge and then with a towel. Use a lotion or foam to remove impurities in the evening and complement the treatment with a lotion or toner for combination skin. It is good if these funds contain panthenol, bisabolol, herbal extracts and extracts. A gentle scrub (such as with jojoba granules) can be used two to three times a week.

Must not: no gels for washing – they dry the skin. So are abrasive scrubs.

Carefully: peeling is best done in the beautician’s office, home experiments can turn into peeling of the skin on dry areas. The cleansing masks are only recommended for the T-zone.
