Tickets to the ski resort for me personally are a proven way not to fall into the autumn blues. While it is raining outside the window and leaves are falling, I dream of snow and think where to spend my winter holidays. Last year we decided to put the kids on skis, so the choice fell on Serfaus-Fis-Ladis, which is considered one of the best resorts for family holidays in the mountains in Europe.
Entertainment for every taste
This city began to be actively developed in the 1990s, when it became fashionable to take children with you everywhere. Therefore, there you immediately begin to regret that you are not 10 years old. In addition to skiing, it is full of entertainment for the younger generation. Eyes go straight. I could not contain my inner child and, together with my daughters, went into all serious trouble!
Winter rollercoasters, night sleigh rides, indoor climbing wall and rope park… I forgot that vacations can be so exciting. And it was necessary to just forget about the numbers in the passport. We have not yet decided to take a ride on the Fisser Flieger paraglider, which flies over the valley with the help of cables. And the giant Skyswing swing was left for another time. But if you want to get a dose of adrenaline, you are there.
It’s like an adult
However, you can also relax in an adult way – relaxed and measured – here too. First, when skiing, look out for Feelgood Stops, open-air loungers and hanging chairs where you can take a breath and enjoy the view. There is no better place to meditate.
Secondly, Serfaus is full of excellent restaurants where you can discover Tyrolean cuisine with both traditional and modern interpretations. Lastly, don’t discount spa treatments that relieve or even replace fatigue from a day of skiing.
Need to know
The resort consists of three villages: Serfaus – the liveliest, Fis – more comfortable, Ladis – the most democratic in terms of prices.
All of them are united by a network of lifts – it turns out 214 km of slopes at an altitude of 1200 to 2800 m. There is where both adults and children can turn around.
Serfaus has a unique mountain metro. The only branch with 4 stations leads from the beginning of the resort to the main lift. So you won’t need a car in Serfaus.
Special area for children
Even more parental vacation makes it easier to take the child for the whole day to a winter school with a huge fenced snow park. Children there are taught to ski in a playful way, as well as fed and entertained. For those who have already got used to it a little, there are themed slopes where dinosaurs and forest dwellers hide around the corners.
On Bear’s Slope, you can drive right into the mouth of a bear under its reassuring growl. These trails are open to everyone, and I personally recommend that adults do not go around them.
