Maïa puts on her helmet and puts on her two-blade skates (it’s easier to keep your balance!). Impatient, she sets off with enthusiasm on the track in the company of her parents, who are both good skaters. To start gently, Maïa sits on a special chair, ideal for sliding in complete safety. Her daddy, Julien, pushes her gently. “Faster, faster! », She writes, intoxicated by so many sensations.
Playful learning
At first, children can be frustrated because they fall very often. To motivate them, you have to use this type of structure, it gives them a taste of the thrills they will have when they skate better. And get them to participate in classes as well.
Learn to skate and brake
From 3 years old, they learn to master the basics and gain confidence. They work on movement, support, balance, agility and dissociation between the lower and upper body, but not yet braking, which is the most difficult movement to master. Now, Maïa wants to try to skate on her own. A little hesitant, she walks rather than slips. And that’s the fall! Aude, her mother, consoles her and presto, she leaves. To help him keep his balance, she suggests that he use a funny penguin. Equipped with blades, this module allows children to advance more easily on the ice.
With mom, it’s better!
To glide, the back foot must be perpendicular, which is difficult for the little ones. By moving these objects, they work the thrust without realizing it and gradually, they acquire the right gesture. Maïa needs her mom’s help to push the penguin. To make the younger ones feel confident, stand behind them to see what is going on around you and hold them by the hips. More and more comfortable on her skates, Maïa manages like a grown-up and even improvises a race. Very funny !
Slalom with his parents
Then, she leaves the penguin aside and ventures out onto the ice rink, held only by her parents. Everyone takes his hand. A big step, because you have to position your feet correctly and not be afraid to let yourself be guided. To avoid falling, the legs should be slightly bent and the skates shoulder-width apart. Maïa is delighted, she slalomed and made small jumps. Skating with your parents is so much more fun!
There it’s finished !
But it is already time to stop. The sessions should not last too long, as it is much more tiring than skiing. A few dried fruits to replenish your energy, a last lap of honor on the track and Maïa hangs up her skates with the desire to come back very quickly.
