Ibuprom Sinuses is a drug indicated for use in the treatment of pain and obstruction of the sinuses. It contains as many as two active substances, i.e. ibuprofen with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, and phenylephrine, which opens the nose. Sinus ibuprofen reduces congestion and swelling of the nasal mucosa and sinuses, and reduces secretions, thus opening the airways and, as a result, facilitating breathing.

Ibuprom Zatoki – composition

The active substance of Gulf Ibuprom there is ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. One tablet contains 200 mg of ibuprofen and 30 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. The other ingredients of Gulf Ibuprom are: calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, croscarmellose sodium, powdered cellulose, talc, simethicone, colloidal silica, sucrose, calcium carbonate, macrogol 6000, povidone K90, macrogol 4000, sodium sulfate, tartrazine, brilliant blue, titanium dioxide, shellac and cocoa oil.

Sinus ibuprom is used when there are troublesome symptoms of colds and flu resulting from obstruction of the nose and paranasal sinuses. This applies especially to headache, pain resulting from blocked sinuses, as well as fever, runny nose, or muscle aches in the course of flu or colds.

Sinus Ibuprom – contraindications

A contraindication to the use of Ibuprom Bay is:

  1. hypersensitivity (allergy) to the active substance or any other component of the drug;
  2. history of allergy symptoms, especially symptoms of bronchial asthma, runny nose, angioedema and urticaria, after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs;
  3. taking drugs from the group of monoamine oxidase inhibitors, i.e. MAO inhibitors for the treatment of hypotension and depression. Sinus ibuprom should not be used within 14 days of discontinuation of these drugs;
  4. presence of active or recurrent gastric and / or duodenal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation after taking NSAIDs, intracranial or other bleeding, severe liver, kidney or heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension blood pressure, unexplained haemolytic (blood) disorders, bleeding disorder, diabetes mellitus, phaeochromocytoma, angle-closure glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, prostatic hyperplasia;
  5. pregnancy and breastfeeding – if a woman is pregnant, breastfeeding or at least suspects that she may be pregnant or is planning a baby, she should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking Ibuprom Zatoka. Sinus ibuprom may cause malformations in the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy. The active substances of Ibuprom Zatoka pass into breast milk in small amounts, therefore the use of the drug is also not recommended in breastfeeding women.

Sinus Ibuprom – dosage

Adults and children over 12 years of age can use a maximum of 2 tablets up to 3 times a day. It is recommended to take the drug every 8 hours, but keep a minimum 4-hour break between consecutive doses. You should also remember not to exceed the daily dose of 6 tablets.

Ibuprom Gulf – side effects

Sinus ibuprom can cause various side effects. However, it should be remembered that they do not occur in every patient and the risk of their occurrence is often lower than the benefits of taking it. If the patient experiences these side effects, he should stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor.

  1. exacerbation of inflammation resulting from infection – for example, necrotizing fasciitis may occur. The exacerbation is associated with the use of NSAIDs. The doctor then decides to administer anti-infectious drugs;
  2. symptoms of aseptic meningitis – the appearance of neck stiffness, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, disturbance of consciousness should be alarming. The appearance of these symptoms should be especially noted in patients with autoimmune disorders, e.g. with systemic lupus;
  3. haemolytic blood disorders (e.g. anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia) – the first symptoms resemble the flu and are fever, sore throat, fatigue, as well as superficial ulceration of the mouth and bleeding (bruising or bleeding from nose). Importantly, if you experience such symptoms while using Ibuprom, you should not use painkillers or antipyretics;
  4. hypersensitivity reactions – this applies especially to severe generalized hypersensitivity reactions, i.e. swelling of the face, tongue, internal laryngeal edema (difficulty breathing), respiratory failure, increased heart rate, drop in blood pressure, as well as shock. If such symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately;
  5. palpitations, heart failure and even myocardial infarction – these symptoms require a quick response, so if you experience severe chest pain, stop taking the drug and contact your doctor;
  6. inflammation of the esophagus, pancreas, intestinal diaphragm-like narrowing – symptoms associated with these side effects include severe upper abdominal pain, tarry stools, vomiting with blood. If they appear, discontinue use and consult a physician;
  7. less urine excretion and edema – these side effects are especially relevant in patients with arterial hypertension and renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, interstitial nephritis with possible renal failure. These symptoms may be the first symptoms of developing kidney damage or failure.

Mental disorders such as psychotic reactions and depressive episodes can also occur. The patient may also experience disorders of the nervous system (pain and dizziness, insomnia, agitation, irritability, fatigue). There are also visual disturbances and tinnitus.

The side effects related to the digestive system include heartburn, abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Side effects also affect the skin. Erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis may appear.

Ibuprom Gulf – precautions

People should exercise particular caution:

  1. patients with systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disease due to an increased risk of developing aseptic meningitis;
  2. with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, e.g. ulcerative colitis – the symptoms of the disease may be exacerbated, and even gastrointestinal haemorrhage may occur;
  3. with hypertension and / or cardiac dysfunction in the history collected – Ibuprom Sinus may lead to edema and fluid retention in these patients;
  4. with impaired renal function – the use of Sinus Ibuprom may worsen kidney function;
  5. with impaired liver function;
  6. with active or a history of bronchial asthma and allergic diseases, as the drug may lead to bronchospasm;
  7. the elderly, who have a much higher risk of side effects;
  8. taking the drugs mentioned above.

It is also worth remembering that ibuprofen used in high doses for a long time increases the risk of arterial blockages, i.e. a heart attack or stroke. Sinus ibuprom may also temporarily (during use) induce fertility problems in women (may affect ovulation). Other painkillers should not be used at the same time due to the risk of kidney damage.

Ibuprom Zatoka should be used with caution in people taking tricyclic antidepressants and other sympathomimetic drugs, as well as appetite suppressants, amphetamine-like and psychotropic drugs.

Because in composition of the Gulf Ibuprom There is sucrose, caution should be exercised by people including with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
