Sinus Acatar – indications, contraindications, side effects

Zatoki Acatar is a preparation used in family medicine to relieve symptoms of flu and colds. The drug acts on the musculoskeletal system, has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic properties, and reduces nasal congestion. Zatoki Acatar is available in tablet form and is dispensed without a prescription.

Indications for the use of the drug Acatar Gulf

The active substances in Acatar Zatoka are ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine. It is given on an ad hoc basis to treat cold and flu symptoms such as headache, pain and obstruction of the paranasal sinuses, rhinitis, fever, muscle and joint pain.

Dosage of Sinus Acatar:

  1. Adults and children after the age of 12: 1-2 tablets. every 4-6 hours, maximum 6 tablets a day.

Zatoka acatar and contraindications and warnings

Contraindications to the use of the drug Acatar Zatoki are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. previous hypersensitivity (runny nose, urticaria, bronchial asthma) to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
  3. treatment with MAO inhibitors in parallel or during the last 2 weeks,
  4. active or recent gastric and duodenal ulcer disease,
  5. severe cardiovascular disorders,
  6. tachycardia,
  7. hypertension,
  8. unstable ischemic heart disease,
  9. severe decompensated heart failure,
  10. overactive thyroid gland
  11. diabetes,
  12. pheochromocytoma of the adrenal glands,
  13. angle-closure glaucoma,
  14. benign prostatic hyperplasia,
  15. pregnancy,
  16. the period of breastfeeding.

Zatoka Acatar – warnings:

  1. Use with caution in people with bronchial asthma, the preparation may cause bronchospasm.
  2. In people with gastric ulcer and / or duodenal ulcer, the use of the preparation increases the likelihood of gastrointestinal bleeding.
  3. Liver enzymes and renal function should be monitored in people with impaired liver and kidney function. In people with blood clotting disorders, the preparation may prolong bleeding time.
  4. In patients with arterial hypertension, it is necessary to monitor blood pressure and adjust the doses of drugs to lower blood pressure.
  5. Exercise caution when using the preparation in elderly people.
  6. Do not give to children under 12 years of age.
  7. The preparation may cause fertility disorders in women by affecting ovulation. This effect is transient and usually disappears after discontinuation of therapy.
  8. The preparation contains sunset yellow, which may cause allergic reactions.
  9. Do not use the drug in people with hereditary problems associated with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency should not.
  10. People who drive motor vehicles should exercise particular caution when using the preparation because it may cause side effects that may impair psychophysical fitness.

Zatoka Acatar – interactions:

Do not use simultaneously with the following drugs:

  1. acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs due to an increased risk of gastrointestinal side effects;
  2. antihypertensive preparations, e.g. diuretics, as the preparation may reduce their effectiveness;
  3. anticoagulants, as the preparation may increase their effect; lithium and methotrexate, corticosteroids, zidovudine;
  4. long-term use of ibuprofen may reduce the anti-aggregating effect of acetylsalicylic acid used for cardioprotective purposes;
  5. the combined use of the preparation with drugs stimulating the sympathetic system (e.g. drugs that constrict the blood vessels of the mucous membranes), tricyclic antidepressants, drugs that suppress appetite, psychotropic drugs with an effect similar to amphetamines or with MAO inhibitors (also within 14 days of discontinuing their administration) may cause an increase in blood pressure;
  6. simultaneous use of the preparation with digitalis glycosides, quinidine, tricyclic antidepressants may cause cardiac arrhythmias.

Gulf Acatar – side effects

The following side effects may occur: headache and dizziness, restlessness, hyperactivity, sleepiness or insomnia, agitation, muscle tremors, convulsions, mydriasis, confusion, depression, allergic skin reactions, erythema, edema, rash, rhinitis, bronchial asthma, itching , hives, rash, gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, upper abdominal pain, rarely bleeding, anorexia, gastric ulcer, very rarely ischemic colitis), increased liver enzymes AST and ALT, dyspnoea, exacerbation of bronchial asthma, hypertension (also in the pulmonary circulation and intraocular pressure), fluid retention and edema, increased heart rate (tachycardia), ventricular arrhythmias, purpura, rarely coagulation disorders, thrombocytopenia, very rarely haemolytic anemia, granulocytopenia , agranulocytosis, increase in blood uric acid levels. Nipple necrosis, acute renal failure, urinary retention in men (especially in the case of an enlarged prostate gland), and visual disturbances are very rare. Very rarely, non-specific allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, as well as dysgeusia, hearing, bullous dermatosis.
