Sinupret extract is a combination of herbs that is known especially to those who have repeatedly struggled with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. What herbs are included in Sinupret extract and how to use this drug correctly?
Sinupret extract – composition and action
Sinupret extract is characterized by the complexity of its composition. This drug is a composition of carefully selected herbs, such as: gentian root, primrose flower, sorrel herb, elder flower and verbena herb. This mixture is effective in reducing unpleasant ailments associated with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.
The substances that come from plant extracts are mainly mucilages, bitter substances, saponins, flavonoids, triterpenes and essential oils. These ingredients have a beneficial and complementary effect on the mucosa of the nose and paranasal sinuses. They dilute the troublesome secretions, activate the self-cleaning of the mucosa, clear the nasal passages and paranasal sinuses. Sinupret extract is a drug that relieves the standard symptoms of sinusitis, such as headaches, pressure and discharge down the throat.

Sinupret extract – indications for use
Sinupret extract as a mixture of herbs is recommended for use in cases of acute uncomplicated rhinitis and paranasal sinusitis. It is a drug that works well in combating ailments that occur with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.
Sinupret extract – contraindications
Sinupret extract, although it is a herbal medicine, cannot be used by everyone who is struggling with the disease. Contraindications to the use of this preparation are:
- hypersensitivity to any component of Sinupret extract,
- gastric and duodenal ulcers,
- pregnancy and breastfeeding,
- too young age of the patient. The preparation is not recommended for people under 18 years of age.

Sinupret extract – dosage
Sinupret extract is available in the form of coated tablets to be taken orally. The preparation should be used according to the doctor’s instructions or the pharmacist’s suggestions. According to the package leaflet, adults can take one tablet 3 times a day.
The drug can be used for 7-14 days. Sinupret extract tablets should be swallowed whole. It is not recommended to bite or chew them. It is best to take this medicine after a meal with a glass of water.
Sinupret extract – side effects
Sinupret extract can cause side effects, although they do not occur in most patients. Side effects of using this preparation are rather rare.
The side effects include:
- dizziness,
- abdominal pain,
- nausea,
- flatulence
- diarrhea
- dry mouth
- erythema,
- itching
- angioedema,
- shortness of breath, swelling of the face.
However, it should be remembered that the benefits of using Sinureptu extract are usually much greater than the possible harm to the side effects of this drug.
Sinupret extract – precautions
Differential diagnosis and treatment are required if a person taking Sinupret extract experiences a nosebleed, fever, severe pain, purulent nasal discharge, blurred vision, asymmetry of the face or eyes, or facial numbness. J.If symptoms persist for more than 7-14 days, worsen or recur periodically, a doctor should be consulted.
Special care should be taken when taking this drug for known gastritis and in people with a sensitive stomach. Sinupret extract should be taken preferably after a meal with a glass of water. People with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.
Note for diabetics: One sugar-coated tablet contains an average of 0,3 g of easily digestible carbohydrates. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age due to insufficient data. Administration of Sinupret extract during pregnancy should be avoided for safety reasons. The active substances in Sinupret extract pass into breast milk, therefore breastfeeding mothers should not take this preparation.
Before using Sinupret extract, inform your doctor about all medications you are taking. Although no drug interaction studies have been performed so far, it cannot be excluded that the effect of other medicinal products may be enhanced or decreased.
