Sinupret drops is a preparation of plant origin that dilutes the residual secretion. The preparation is used in the supportive treatment of acute or chronic inflammation of the sinuses, upper and lower respiratory tract. Sinupret drops are available without a prescription, but the drug should be used with caution, according to the attached leaflet or according to the doctor’s and pharmacist’s instructions.

Sinupret drops – composition of the preparation and its application

The German company BIONORICA SE is responsible for the production of Sinupret drops. The packaging of the preparation contains a drop bottle with a capacity of 100 ml or 200 ml. The active substances of the drug are the following herbs: gentian root, sorrel herb, primrose flower with calyx, elder flower, verbena herb. The Sinupret drops also contain purified water and ethanol.

The drops are used in the case of acute or chronic inflammation of the sinuses and upper and lower respiratory tract. The herbal mixture dilutes the remaining mucus, while reducing the swelling of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract.

Dosage of Sinupret drops in children and adults

Sinupret drops are available without a prescription, but it is always recommended to consult a doctor or pharmacist first. If they do not recommend a different dosage of the preparation, adults use 50 drops (3,1 ml) 3 times a day orally, while children are recommended 25 drops (1,55 ml) 3 times a day. In special cases, the dosage of the drug may be increased. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids during the application period. If symptoms persist for more than 7-14 days, see your doctor.

When not to use Sinupret drops?

Sinupret drops cannot be used in case of allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the drug and if the patient suffers from gastric ulcers or hyperacidity and duodenal ulcers. It should also be remembered that Sinupret drops contain ethanol with a concentration of 19%, so they are not recommended for people addicted to alcohol and for children under 6 years of age.

Also, people driving vehicles or operating machines must be aware that 0,5 g of alcohol is contained in a single dose for an adult. Pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as people with liver diseases, brain injuries or diseases and epilepsy, should exercise particular caution and consult a doctor regarding the dosage of the preparation. It is not recommended to take Sinupret drops along with other expectorants.

Sinupret drops – possible side effects and side effects

Each drug can cause some side effects and side effects, although not every person may experience them. Side effects of Sinupret drops can be:

  1. gastrointestinal disorders (abdominal pain, nausea),
  2. immune system disorders (erythema, itching, dyspnoea, face edema and angioedema, rash).
