Singulair is a drug used in allergology to treat lung diseases, incl. in the treatment and prevention of asthma. The preparation acts on the respiratory system, has anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic properties. Singulair is available as tablets and can only be obtained with a prescription.

Indications for use of Singulair
The active ingredient in Singulair is montelukast, an anti-asthma and antiallergic drug. The preparation is used:
- auxiliary in the treatment of mild to moderate persistent asthma, if the effects of treatment with inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting short-acting β-adrenomimetics are not satisfactory;
- for the treatment of mild persistent asthma instead of low-dose inhaled corticosteroids in patients who have not had a recent history of severe asthma attacks requiring the use of oral corticosteroids, and in patients who are unable to use inhaled corticosteroids;
- as a preventive measure in exercise-induced asthma.
Dosage of Singulair in Children:
- 2-5. years of age: 1 tablet 4 mg once a day;
- 6-14. years of age: 1 tablet 5 mg once daily.
Singulair and contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients is a contraindication to the use of Singulair.
