Shrimp for beer: video recipe

Beer with shrimps is a classic version of this drink, especially popular in Russia. When you order it in a restaurant, they bring you a couple of dozen shrimps, which are unlikely to satisfy your appetite. Therefore, in order to really enjoy the taste of seafood, you can prepare them for beer at home.

What is important to know when choosing shrimp

Of course, the raw material, i.e. shrimp must be of high quality, otherwise it will not be possible to cook them deliciously. Therefore, when you choose them in the store, first of all pay attention to the appearance of these marine crustaceans. Ordinary shrimps are sold boiled. They are boiled on the ship immediately after they are caught, as this is a delicate and perishable product. If the shrimp were boiled while still fresh, they will have a curved shape and their tails will be pulled up to the head.

In the event that the storage conditions during transportation have been met, the shrimp in a pack or in a box will not stick together into lumps and there will be no pieces of ice between them. The presence of greenish spots on the heads of shrimps is allowed – this is through the chitinous cover that the insides are visible.

And of course, the size of the shrimp is of great importance. Usually it is indicated on the package or on the price tag. Small shrimps can be tasty, but peeling them is a rather tedious task, and they will not be juicy either. But especially large shrimps, such as tiger shrimps, are best served fried with beer.

Before serving, the shrimp can be drizzled with lemon juice, garnished with dill sprigs and thinly sliced lemon wedges

How to properly boil shrimp for beer

To get tasty and aromatic shrimp that can be served with beer, you need to add spices to the water before boiling them. For 1 kg of shrimp according to this recipe, you will need: – 0,5 liters of water; – 2-3 slices of lemon; – 1 tsp. dill seeds; – 3-4 bay leaves; – ½ tsp. ground red pepper; – 2 tbsp. salt without a slide.

Some drinkers use beer instead of water in this recipe.

Pour water into a large saucepan and bring it to a boil, toss in the spices, salt, reduce heat, and sweat the spices a little so that they can give this broth their flavor. After 5-7 minutes, the fire can be increased. Wait until intense boiling starts again, and put the shrimps in a saucepan, you do not need to defrost them.

Since they have already been cooked once in compliance with the technology, it makes no sense to cook them again, because this will make their meat “rubbery”. Therefore, your task is to wait for the water to heat up, but it should not boil. At the first sign of boiling, remove the pot from the stove, close the lid and let the shrimp sit in this brine for another 15-20 minutes. After that, they can be laid out on a dish and served hot with beer.
