Should the water be drained when boiling beans?
When boiling beans, you need to drain the water only once – after the first boil. We wash the beans with cold water and return to the stove. Cook until tender, adding water as it boils down.
And in order for the bean dish to turn out delicious, you need to follow all the rules for cooking beans. First, rinse well with water – it is most convenient to use a colander for this. Then pour over boiling water and cool completely. An indicator that everything is going well will be the wrinkled skin.
Pour the cooled beans with cool boiled water so that it covers the grains by 2 – 3 cm. For the best soaking, you can add a little baking soda – for two cups of beans from a quarter to half a teaspoon, but no more.
It takes several hours to soak. You can leave it overnight. Then we rinse, soak with a whole teaspoon of baking soda for 1 – 2 minutes and rinse again. Fill with cold water and set to cook.
