Can Urosept be used during pregnancy during cystitis? Can the preparation have a negative effect on pregnancy and the child? What home remedies for cystitis can be used in pregnancy? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.
Can a pregnant woman use Urosept?
Hello, I am 26 years old and I am four months pregnant. I’ve always cared for my health, and now that I’m expecting a baby, I take care of it even more. I try to eat properly, there aren’t too many sweets – although I’m really drawn to it – and dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Unfortunately, not everything can be predicted or taken care of.
I’ve been struggling with bladder pains and they are becoming more and more annoying. Persistent itching, burning when urinating and a pregnancy in which most medications should not be taken. Before pregnancy on bladder problems Urosept was helping me. Nothing else worked – just this Urosept. Now, when I am pregnant, I do not know if I can reach for this drug? Will taking Urosept have a negative effect on my child?
My child’s health is the most important thing for me, but at the same time I would not like cystitis to lead to any more serious diseases. For now, I relieve the burning sensation in chamomile covers during warm baths, but this helps for a while, and the pain when urinating does not go away. I am asking for help. Can I use Urosept while pregnant?
The doctor advises whether you can reach for Urosept during pregnancy
Urosept is an over-the-counter herbal preparation, and 1 tablet contains 86.2 mg of dense extract composed of birch leaves, parsley root, bean fruit, 8 mg of chamomile herb dry extract, 26 mg of lingonberry leaf dry extract, 78 mg of spotted bean fruit, 19 mg of potassium citrate and 16 mg of sodium citrate. It is a mild diuretic and is used as an adjunct to urinary tract infections i urolithiasis.
Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any of the above-mentioned ingredients, it should also not be used in people with seca and renal insufficiency, children up to 12 years of age. Due to the lack of data confirming the safety of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is not recommended to use this preparation in the above-mentioned conditions.
However, it is not an essential drug in the treatment of urinary tract infections, it is only used to support other drugs. The symptoms of itching and burning during urination mentioned by you may indicate an infection of the urinary bladder and such infections should be treated immediately with prescription drugs available on the market, so visit your family doctor or pregnancy doctor and tell about the symptoms.
Cystitis, if left untreated, can result in pyelonephritis, which is quite a serious condition. Treatment of urinary tract infections is generally simple and usually requires antibiotic therapy. Frequently used antibiotics in this indication include: amoxicillin, ampicillin, cephalosporins, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Fluoroquinolones are contraindicated in pregnancy. Before the doctor prescribes an antibiotic, he may order a general urine test and culture with an antibiotic, and on this basis, prescribe the most appropriate antibiotic. In addition to antibiotic treatment, it is important to drink plenty of water during an infection.
