Should healers get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine?
Start COVID-19 vaccine Frequently asked questions Where can I get vaccinated? Check if you can get vaccinated

Studies show that convalescents respond better to vaccination than those who have not contracted COVID-19, maybe it is worth proposing to convalescents the J&J single-dose vaccine first? – suggests Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, NRL expert.

  1. Research shows that the level of antibodies in people who have contracted COVID-19 is so high that it may be enough to vaccinate them with just one dose of the vaccine
  2. Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski suggests that convalescents could receive Johnson & Johnson in the first place

Vaccinations against COVID-19 in convalescents

The research carried out by the INVICTA Research and Development Center in Poland indicates that convalescents respond better to vaccination. They show that among people with no history of coronavirus infection, the level of antibodies within 14 days from the first dose of the vaccine was on average 60,99 U / ml, and just before the second dose of the vaccine (i.e. usually after about 21 days after the first dose) to an average of 122,83 U / ml.

Meanwhile, in people who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 before vaccination, already before vaccination, the average level was 54,94 U / ml, and 14 days after the first dose, the observed antibody level exceeded 2 U / ml (among 500 percent of respondents).

The first group (no history of infection) needed a second dose of the vaccine to achieve this antibody level. Among these people, 71 percent. has reached antibody levels above 2500 U / ml on day 8 after the second dose of vaccine.

These data therefore suggest that perhaps in people who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, one dose of the vaccine is enough to achieve the same effect as in people without prior contact after two doses.

Similar conclusions are reached by Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, MD, an expert of the Supreme Medical Council for combating COVID-19.

“Research shows that convalescents respond better to vaccination than those who did not develop COVID-19; maybe it is worth proposing the J&J single-dose vaccine to the convalescents first? » – he writes on Twitter. In his opinion, after vaccination, antibodies can be measured and then a further decision can be made.

– Most survivors are vaccinated after three months, because they have immunity after disease, which protects them from reinfection – and to avoid overlapping of postovid complications with vaccination – emphasizes the expert of the Supreme Medical Council. He adds that the exception are people who do not have immunity after falling ill (they lack anti-S antibodies in the blood).

Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski also notes that researchers have identified over 300 human proteins that bind to the coronavirus during active infection. Many of them protect our cells from death, but the RNA of the virus can, for example, lower the levels of NHE3 and DRA proteins, which are responsible for water absorption in the intestine. This results in diarrhea that occurs in some infected people.

After the infection is over, it is worth having blood tests for those recovering from COVID-19. You can buy them on Medonet Market at a favorable price. Thanks to them, you will check the general condition of your body after an illness.
