Shosha cucumber: variety description
The popular type of cucumber “Shosha” is known all over the world. The variety differs in ideal and identical, as for selection, fruits, as well as high yield.
Description of the “Shosha” cucumber variety
The bushes of this variety are quite large in height. One bush can reach 2 meters. They have a strong root system, and the side shoots, on the contrary, are short. In this subspecies of cucumbers, the female type of flowering is most often found.
The main characteristics of the fetus:
- length – about 11 cm;
- diameter – 3 cm;
- weight – up to 60 g.
Cucumber “Shosha” is distinguished by some tuberosity of the fruit, but this does not at all make it unpleasant to the touch.
The fruits keep very well. If you put them in a cool place, then they will be elastic, and most importantly – fresh for about 2 weeks. For long-term storage, a very short stalk should be left on the cucumber. It is imperative to remove the remains of the flower.
This variety is resistant to various cucumber diseases. It is avoided by target spotting, cucumber mosaic and powdery mildew.
“Shosha” is perfect for conservation. Salt and marinade have a positive effect on the fruit, so even in winter you can enjoy crispy and firm cucumbers. It is very important that the fruits do not form a void inside themselves, and the seeds are not felt at all.
This variety can be planted in two ways:
- through seedlings;
- directly into the ground.
This is done in mid-spring, or rather, not earlier than mid-April. In order to plant cucumbers in the ground, it is necessary that it warms up well. The air temperature must be stable at least 15 degrees (both day and night).
The variety is very demanding for watering. Such cucumbers are very fond of moisture, so the earth must be constantly moistened.
You should not get carried away with excessive watering, as this will lead to the death of the roots. If the plant does not have enough moisture and water, then its fruits will be yellowish with bitterness. In cold weather, watering should be reduced to a minimum.
The Shosha cucumber variety is very fond of light and does not tolerate shade well. In a shaded area, the plant will not develop well and will not bring the desired harvest. Therefore, cucumbers should be planted in a well-lit area.
In order for the plant to bear fruit for a longer period of time, it is necessary to leave the footboard on the stem as short as possible while cutting the cucumbers. In this way, you can achieve even greater yields in the future.
