The fifth wave of the pandemic has become a fact. This is what the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, said recently. Indeed, the wave of COVID-19 infections in Poland has increased sharply in recent days. This increase was to be expected, but the scale of new cases must have surprised many experts.

The dynamics of infections in Poland – “the picture shows it all”
Dry numbers may not appeal to the imagination as much as the graph of them. An interesting chart was presented on Twitter by Łukasz Pietrzak, a pharmacist, analyst publishing various numbers and trends related to the coronavirus, based on data from the Ministry of Health.

You can see that in the last week, from Wednesday to Sunday, the numbers jumped from several thousand to 30-40 thousand.
Minister Niedzielski recently said that the ministry’s forecasts for the peak of the fifth wave were about 60. illnesses a day. It seems that we can already achieve this value next Wednesday (then usually there are the most cases on a weekly basis). What’s next? It is difficult to predict, but estimates of other research centers indicate the peak of infections at the level of 100-140 thousand.
