21-year-old Molly Hunt, a geography student and aspiring flight attendant, also found time to party, like many students. Unfortunately, she endured them worse and worse each time. The side effects of such exits led Molly to “get scared” of going out with friends. He talks about his illness in the videos on TikTok.
I used to go out and drink a lot, and the next day I had a really bad stomach ache under my diaphragm. It felt like I had to contract myself to get rid of the pain and tense my entire body. It was quite a surreal pain. I just thought, “Oh, this is new, my body can’t tolerate alcohol that much.”
— she confessed.
She thought she had a hangover and was exhausted
Over time, Molly noticed that she was extremely tired and sleepy, despite the fact that she could sleep up to 15 hours. During the day, she couldn’t concentrate, took naps, and finally stopped attending lectures. She found an excuse for this, too, and believed that it was the result of overwork and too much study.
The fatigue would just hit me out of nowhere. Sometimes I thought it was a hangover and sometimes I attributed it to my workload at the university
— she explained.
The first symptoms appeared in October, but the 21-year-old ignored them. However, in February, she became concerned when she saw that her neck had started to swell, and she had a lump the size of two grapes on her collarbone. Her skin was irritated, often itchy, and Molly felt a burning sensation under her skin as well. Additionally, she suspected he had reflux.
There were more symptoms
The 21-year-old went to the doctor, where they performed blood tests and diagnosed her with enlarged lymph nodes. Two weeks passed and the tumor did not disappear, therefore, the woman was sent for an ultrasound. During this time, a second lump had grown. When she went for an ultrasound, the medics found that the lump was too big and they flew a biopsy. It turned out that there were even more nodules. Not only on the neck, but also on the chest. Molly admitted that the waiting for the diagnosis was terrifying.
It was the scariest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. In fact, I have never been to a hospital or had any problems
— she explained.
Her fears were confirmed by a scan nine days later, which revealed she had stage XNUMX Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Molly started chemotherapy.
It was mentally very difficult because it is the same every day – fear of the unknown and what will happen next
— she said.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma, once called Hodgkin’s lymphoma, is a cancer of the lymphatic system that originates in a type of white blood cell — B lymphocytes. The most common symptom of Hodgkin’s disease is painless enlargement of the lymph nodes around the neck, armpits, groin, and inside the chest and abdomen. Hodgkin’s lymphoma usually develops in the lymph nodes, but it can also develop outside the lymph nodes in organs such as the spleen, liver, stomach, intestine, bone marrow, skin, kidneys, and the brain, but this location is less common.
Molly was due to undergo 12 rounds of chemotherapy, but since she had a complete metabolic response and is in remission, it was reduced to just six rounds. However, she may have to undergo radiation therapy.
