Doctors from Poznań performed 3D prosthesis implantation on 20-year-old Tatiana. The Ukrainian woman struggled with bone sarcoma of the femur. However, the therapy conducted in the Lviv hospital was stopped by Our Country’s invasion of Ukraine. Now the woman is recovering under the supervision of Polish medics.

20-year-old Tatiana came to Poznań from war-torn Ukraine. The girl is suffering from cancer — femoral sarcoma. She had already undergone the entire cycle of preoperative chemotherapy, but due to Our Country’s invasion of Ukraine, she was not admitted to the hospital in Lviv. The medics wanted to remove a large fragment of the diseased bone and replace it with a specially prepared 3D prosthesis.
— The procedure ran as expected without any complications. The patient is in a very good general condition and will start rehabilitation tomorrow — says in an interview with wtk.news.pl Jerzy Nazar, Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Clinical Hospital. Femur sarcoma – what is it?
Bone sarcoma is a group of malignant neoplasms characterized by, inter alia, aggressiveness, a tendency to relapse and the ability to metastasize. There are over 50 different types of sarcomas in humans. In adults, this group of cancer affects one patient in a hundred.
