She was not yet sixteen when she fell madly in love with Maxim – the best friend of her brother Andrey. He completed his studies at the institute, and she was still in school. They had known each other for a long time, since Max often visited Andrei. Sometimes the guys took the girl with them to the movies, to discos, and both treated her like a younger girlfriend.
Masha tried to please Maxim more and more: for the first time she dyed her hair, heels appeared in the wardrobe, and the usual jeans were replaced by beautiful feminine dresses. Her efforts were not in vain and he finally drew attention to his young fan.
Young people started dating. Maxim was very gentle and anxious about his chosen one and did not go further than kissing – he took care of her before the wedding.
So happy six months passed. But friends were called up to serve in the army. At the station, Masha sobbed and swore to wait for her beloved faithfully. For about a year she wrote long letters, and he reciprocated her.
After the army, the lovers dreamed of getting married, especially since there were only six months left before demobilization … A little more and they will finally be together. Forever and ever. There will be no more letters and long-awaited calls. Another six months, and he will embrace his Masha and will not let her go anywhere else.
By a lucky coincidence, the best friends ended up in one part. Together they dreamed of a citizen, helped each other in every possible way and shared the hardships of army service.
During this time, Maria graduated from school and successfully passed the entrance exams to the institute. Student life began – sessions, new acquaintances, parties on weekends. She was still waiting for Max. But writing long letters to the army became somewhat less common – the study took a lot of time and effort. And letters from him came almost every day.
In the evenings, all the friends’ cars walked with the guys, some, despite their young age, managed to get married. Against their background, she was a “black sheep”, always waiting for her soldier.
Vadim
One day one of her friends invited Maria to her birthday and she, without hesitation, accepted the invitation. There she met Vadim, the birthday girl’s second cousin. The beautiful student immediately attracted the attention of the guy.
After the holiday, he gave her a lift home. Having learned the phone number through friends, every day I began to write cute SMS and call just like that, chat. In the evenings, the guy was waiting for her at the institute to give her a ride home.
Maria felt a slight sympathy for him, but nothing more. She still loved her soldier, she was still waiting for him from the army and dreamed of a joint future.
So summer came. The academic year is over, the session is closed. With Vadim, they occasionally continued to meet, chatted at the entrance, discussed new films and just passed the time. But Maria did not attach any importance to these meetings.
Suddenly … During one of these walks, Vadim unexpectedly took a box with a ring out of his pocket and offered her his hand and heart. But even more unexpected was the fact that she … replied: “Yes!”.
Wedding without love
Everything happened so quickly that Masha did not even have time to think about the consequences of her act. Vadim is handsome, caring and affectionate, his parents have already managed to give the young people the keys to the apartment.
The girlfriends rejoiced: “Finally, let’s take a walk!”. As if in a fog, the bride was preparing for the wedding. Dress, veil, hairstyle, restaurant, invitations to friends and relatives … In this confusion, she did not even remember about Maxim.
The invitation also flew away to my brother in the army. But Andrei did not come. But he sent home an angry letter in which he said that he no longer wanted to visit her.
The application has been submitted, the dress has been purchased, the guests have been invited. Nowhere to retreat. In any case, so it seemed to the girl. We walked off a magnificent wedding, a sea of gifts, flowers and attention, happy faces of guests and tears of parents, wedding night. And in the morning after the wedding, Maria seemed to wake up from a dream. She finally realized what she had done!
Masha remembered everything: letters from her beloved, promises, dreams of a joint future and the last words of her brother. More than anything, she wanted to write to Max now, to explain everything to him. Holding an envelope in her hands, she looked at her husband sleeping next to her and cried softly. Her tears, like shards of her former love, fell to the floor.
After all, she loves someone else! Unexpectedly for herself, she suddenly realized the seriousness of her act. And nothing can be changed. And yesterday it was possible!
Only a few months remained before demobilization, which turned into a sheer nightmare for the newlyweds. The young husband loved his wife very much, was extremely attentive and gentle, but she did not reciprocate.
Masha quietly hated her husband, rejected all his caresses and thwarted any attempts at intimacy with her. Vadim was confused, he did not even know what was behind such behavior of his wife. After all, he did not know anything about Maria’s ex-fiancé.
Maksim
Meanwhile, Max, who learned the truth from his best friend Andrey, sent his former bride his army photo with the caption: “Be happy!”. She still keeps this photo, despite the fact that many years have passed since that moment.
The day came when Andrei was demobilized. At the festive table, he did not even look at Masha.
After waiting for the right moment, she went up to Andrei and asked: “How is he?”. The brother snapped: “What do you care ?! Are you married!”. Unable to bear it, Masha burst into tears. How she cursed herself at this moment! Andrei felt sorry for his sister, who foolishly ruined her life and then he said: “Stop the hysterics! In the evening he will come to visit me ”.
Knowing this, she remained in her parents’ house until the evening. And finally, the doorbell rang. It came OH! The girl threw herself on the neck of her former lover, he hugged her slightly.
Then there were tears, pleas for forgiveness, attempts to justify their stupid act. Left alone with her, the guy asked: “Why did you do this? Silly girl. “
She cried, begged to forgive her and, choking on her tears, screamed that she hated Vadim more than anything in the world. And he loves and will always love only him, Max. She tried to collect the pieces of love.
After recovering a little, she asked her ex-boyfriend: “Are we going to be together? Forever and ever? As you once dreamed, remember? ”. He took her hands and, looking into her eyes, replied: “You yourself understand that no. You married someone else. I can’t do that, I’m sorry. “
Broken happiness
After Max left, Masha had a hysteria, she even had to call a doctor to her house, who injected the girl with a sedative. A day later, she filed for divorce without giving her now ex-husband any explanation. The whole world collapsed, she abandoned her studies, at the same time burying dreams of a bright future.
So two years passed. She and Max occasionally continued to meet, but the relationship on the part of the guy was very cool. She sincerely hoped to return his love, and she still hopes, because during this time he never found anyone. But rather, I didn’t look for it.
She later confesses: “I feel that he still loves me. But something broke in him. And it broke forever. I will never forgive myself for destroying everything with my own hands. And now I am collecting the fragments of love, our pure love ”.
