Shake – a method of making cocktails

Shake or shake method (from the English shake) – the process of shaking in a shaker, followed by filtering into a glass of low-mixing high-density ingredients (whiskey, liquors, syrups, eggs, cream, milk, etc.) along with more pliable components of a particular cocktail (Cosmopolitan, Blue Hawaii and many other).

Tips and tricks

In order to avoid rapid melting of ice, the shaker is filled with it by about three quarters. It is advisable to immediately strain the ice in the shaker to get rid of the water that is in the cavities of the ice cubes.

For safety reasons, the ends of the shaker during shaking should not be turned towards the bartender himself or towards others.

In addition, the shaker and soda are completely mutually exclusive. As in other cases, gaseous liquids are added directly to the serving glass.

Among the bartending techniques used in this method are the expected strain and the fine strain.
