Setting margins and scale when printing in Excel

In Excel, sometimes it becomes necessary to make small adjustments in the panel printto fit all the required data on the page. Panel print offers several tools that allow you to do this, such as adjusting margins and scale.

Adjusting the print scaling

If some data is cut off when printed in Excel, you can use zoom to fit it on the page.

  1. Go to panel print. The following example shows that some of the data will be cut off when printed.
  2. Go to the scaling options and from the drop-down menu select Fit sheet to one page.Setting margins and scale when printing in Excel

Remember that as you zoom out, the text on the sheet becomes harder to read. Therefore, it is not recommended to use this option for sheets containing a large amount of information.

Adjusting Print Margins

In addition to setting scaling options, Excel also allows you to change the width of the margins and individual columns of the worksheet right in Preview areas. When you change the width of fields and columns, they also change in the Excel worksheet.

  1. Go to panel print, then press command Show fields in the lower right corner.Setting margins and scale when printing in Excel
  2. The page margins will appear in Preview areas. Move the mouse cursor over one of the lines, the cursor will change into a double arrow. In our example, we will reduce the width of the left margin to accommodate the extra column on the page.Setting margins and scale when printing in Excel
  3. Click on the line and, without releasing the left button, move the mouse to increase or decrease the width of the field.Setting margins and scale when printing in Excel
  4. Release the left mouse button. The field will change. As you can see, we managed to fit one more column onto the page.Setting margins and scale when printing in Excel
