Severe disease of Cezary Kucharski — former Polish national team footballer and sports manager — excluded him from life for over a month. He left the hospital just before Easter, but that’s not all. It turns out that Kucharski suffers from a mysterious and difficult to cure disease.
- Cezary Kucharski was diagnosed with vasculitis, i.e. systemic vasculitis. It was this disease that caused muscle aches, kidney problems, and a strong cough
- Vasculitis is a group of conditions in which the walls of blood vessels are damaged. As a result, bleeding or thromboembolic disorders occur
- The former Polish representative spent 41 days in the hospital. He is feeling better now, but many months of rehabilitation are ahead of him

In mid-February, the first information appeared that Cezary Kucharski, a former Polish representative, was hospitalized in a serious condition. First, he felt pain in the muscles and joints, and a general weakness in the body. Then there were also problems with kidneys and chest, and a severe cough that prompted him to go to the hospital. Doctors in Spain — because that was where Cezary Kucharski was staying — they treated him for pneumonia. In the specialized hospital to which the patient was transported, it turned out that the lung problems were in fact the result of a serious illness. In an interview with sport.pl, his relatives told about his struggle for health and his disturbing diagnosis.

Vasculitis — what kind of disease is it?
At the former football player, doctors diagnosed vasculitis, i.e. systemic vasculitis. Basically it is a group of diseases classified as systemic connective tissue diseases in which the walls of blood vessels are damaged by the inflammatory process. Damage to the vessel walls can lead to bleeding or to thromboembolism. As a consequence, blood clots and embolism may form, and further tissue and organ ischemia may occur. The process may include, inter alia, nervous system and lead, for example, to a stroke. In turn, intestinal bleeding can damage the liver. As a result of the disease, skin lesions (hemorrhagic rash and ulcerations) or inflammation of joints and muscles may also appear.
Vasculitis can be primary (autoimmune) or secondary, such as an infection. The clinical symptoms typical of various forms of vasculitis include general symptoms, such as: fever (often of an unclear cause), night sweats, malaise, joint pain, muscle pain and weight loss. Other symptoms may vary depending on the type of vasculitis.

30 kg less and long rehabilitation
As reported by sport.pl, the general condition of Cezary Kucharski in February was very bad, he had difficulty breathing. Doctors decided to put him into a pharmacological coma and connect him to breathing apparatus. He was awakened from the coma after a month. Even then, he was able to breathe on his own.
Cezary Kucharski informed on Twitter that he felt better and could return home, at least for now.
He spent a total of 41 days in the hospital and lost almost 30 kg as a result of his illness. However, the disturbing diagnosis made by the doctors indicates that the battle for recovery is not over yet. The former Polish representative and manager, Robert Lewandowski, will undergo several months of rehabilitation. Although Kucharski is feeling better now, he has difficulty moving because almost every muscle in his body suffered from the disease and long hospital treatment. In the fight against the disease, he is supported by his relatives with whom he spent Easter.
“Even a short time of Easter spent among loved ones is a great dose of energy in the further fight” — highlighted on Twitter.
