Inflammation and pain are very common ailments, often accompanying serious illnesses. Seractil has a soothing effect in the case of inflammation and rheumatic pains, headache, toothache and period pains. The active substance is dexibuprofen.
Seractil – indications
Seractil is a medicine with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used in the case of rheumatic pains, low-grade fever, as well as colds and flu. Seractil also relieves pain of various origins, including acute menstrual pain, mild to moderate toothache, headache, and musculoskeletal pain.
Taking Seractil is also indicated for the symptomatic treatment of inflammation and pain in osteoarthritis.
There are two variants of the drug available in pharmacies, depending on the amount of the active substance in a tablet – Seractil 200 mg and 400 mg.
Seractil – dosage
Seractil tablets are for oral use. Swallow them, avoiding chewing. Seractil should be taken with a meal and with plenty of water.
The daily doses of Seractil 200 mg should be adjusted to the patient’s response to the active substance of the drug. The manufacturer recommends taking in adults:
- 1-2 tablets 3 times a day
- the maximum daily dose is 1200 mg in 3-4 divided doses,
- people over 65 years of age should exercise particular caution when using Seractil,
- Seractil tablets are not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
The frequency and dose of Seractil 400 mg is determined by your doctor. Follow its instructions and if in doubt, consult your pharmacist.
Seractil – contraindications
Seractil should not be used in the case of:
- taking other anti-inflammatory drugs,
- taking diuretics, anticoagulants, lithium preparations, cyclosporine, methotrexate, cardiac glycosides or glucocorticosteroids,
- hypersensitivity to ibuprofen,
- diseases such as: bronchial asthma, blood clotting disorders, gastric and duodenal ulcers, hypertension, liver and kidney diseases or heart diseases
- alcohol is prohibited when taking Seractil tablets, as it negatively affects the condition of the gastric mucosa,
- pregnancy, suspected pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Seractil – side effects
Side effects may occur while taking Seractil, such as:
- nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation
- heartburn and stomach pains
- dizziness,
- ear noise,
- gastrointestinal bleeding
- skin redness, itching, hives,
- swelling of the limbs
- irritability.
During long-term treatment with Seractil, other side effects may additionally occur, including:
- sharp abdominal pain,
- relapse of peptic ulcer disease (in case of sick people),
- depression, confusion, lethargy,
- insomnia,
- visual and hearing impairment,
- shortness of breath
- lowering the pressure,
- fever
- circulatory system disorders.
Taking Seractil tablets may affect concentration, so be careful when driving or operating machinery.

Seractil is available from prescription pharmacies. A package of the drug containing 10 tablets costs about PLN 10. In turn, Serctil 30 tablets cost PLN 25.
