It is easier for those of us who grew up in … happy, prosperous families to end a marriage that has exhausted itself and decide on a divorce, researchers from the University of Cambridge came to these conclusions.
Happy children grow up to be happy adults… who are easier to decide on a divorce. Psychologists at the University of Cambridge came to this unexpected conclusion after examining data on the lives of almost 3000 men and women born in 1946*. How can you explain the relationship between a happy childhood and future divorce rates? Researchers suggest that in a harmonious family, surrounded by loving adults, a child learns to value and respect himself, and later he will not put up with a bad marriage, will not try to maintain relationships at any cost. Those whose childhood was bleak are more at risk of becoming psychologically dependent on a partner and, fearing loneliness, hold on to an unsuccessful marriage.
