A bed is an important piece of furniture for people of all ages. It affects not only the quality of sleep, but also the condition of the spine, skeleton and the circulatory system. These features are also important in the context of a senior bed. Therefore, the selection of the right one should be carefully thought out. What to look for when buying a senior bed?
Senior bed – high and comfortable
When choosing a bed for a senior, you should take into account the condition and health of the elderly. A mobile person who gets out of bed alone or with a little help from a caregiver should have, above all, a high bed. Descending should not involve too much muscle and spine, but rather allow you to drop slightly to the floor.
It is also much better to give up sofas and other furniture in a segmented form. The best will be solid wooden beds for seniors with a comfortable, chamber mattress. Besides, even if the elderly are a couple, it is better to invest in two single beds for seniors. They provide greater comfort and can be individually adapted to their needs.

Senior bed – additional functions
When it comes to elderly, sick and partially immobilized people, beds for seniors with additional elements may be the solution. Furniture stores with various amenities can be found in medical stores. For example, a senior bed with security will prevent him from falling while turning.

From the caregiver’s point of view, it will be the most convenient senior bed with adjustable rails. This will be an effective protection, but lowering the barriers will be helpful when performing hygiene activities.
In addition, you can buy an adjustable senior bed. Its frame is adjustable in three parts. It allows you to change the position of the body when an elderly person has problems with moving. Electric senior bed is controlled by an easy-to-use remote control.
Rehabilitation bed for a senior citizen
In the most difficult cases, when an elderly person is constantly lying down, a rehabilitation bed for a senior will be the optimal option. It works perfectly at home, it has 360-degree wheels, which allows the furniture to move efficiently in all directions on an even surface. These types of beds for seniors are durable – they can bear up to 175 kg. They are also equipped with a trapezoid with a lift so that an elderly person can grab hold of themselves, often adjustable barriers and, importantly, a remote control for electric positioning.
The positions available in the bed for seniors with rehabilitation functions are most often back support, foot rest, knee elevation in the Trendelenburg position (position with the knees, calves and feet higher than the rest of the body to improve circulation).
However, these types of senior beds are very expensive compared to traditional beds. Their prices reach PLN 1500. Not everyone can afford such an expense. That is why it is worth considering renting a rehabilitation bed for a senior. Such a possibility is offered by shops and rentals with medical equipment.
