Semolina casserole: how to cook? Video

Semolina is considered a traditional children’s dish. But not everyone likes it. In addition, even a very tasty dish can get bored if you cook it too often. But from semolina you can cook not only porridge, but also other dishes. For example, a casserole.

Semolina casserole can be without fillers. But it will be tastier if you add raisins, fruits or berries. First, of course, you need to choose the right cereal. In stores, you may find three grades of semolina – T, TM and M. The labeling depends on what types of wheat and in what ratio are used for grinding. T – hard, TM – soft, to which added up to 20% hard, M – soft. For a casserole, you need soft wheat semolina. Take products in the following ratio: – semolina – 1 tbsp .: – milk – 4 tbsp .; – sugar – 3 tbsp. l .; – butter – 3 tbsp. l .; – egg – 2 pcs.; – salt – 0 tsp; – fresh fruit – 5 g: – bread crumbs; – a little sour cream.

Before you start making the casserole, process the fruit. The recipe can be used as follows. Wash the apple, pear, apricot, wash them, remove the seeds and cut into cubes. Heat a skillet and melt a lump of butter. Put 3 tablespoons of sugar in the same place. Put the fruits in a skillet and fry over high heat. Caramel should form on the surface and the pieces should become soft.

You can boil the fruit in sugar syrup. Fruit made from compote or jam are also suitable.

Cook a thick semolina porridge. It must be cooked in milk. Add sugar, salt and butter, stir well and let cool. Grease the pan (usually a square container with high edges) and sprinkle with breadcrumbs so that the casserole does not burn. Put the porridge in a mold. You can make a layer of sour cream on top. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C, place the dish in it and bake for about half an hour. When a golden brown crust forms, remove the casserole and, without taking it out of the mold, cut it into portions. Decorate the casserole with prepared fruit and top with caramel or syrup.

The casserole can be made with raisins, cinnamon, cherries, pears, or even no fillers at all.

For semolina casseroles, you can use, for example, mushrooms, cheese or vegetables. Cooking savory casseroles also begins with processing the filler. Boil the mushrooms, and then fry with onions, just boil or fry the vegetables. Cook a thick porridge without sugar, mix it with finely chopped mushrooms or vegetables, put in a mold and bake for half an hour.
