Security in Excel

In this article, you will learn how to encrypt an Excel file so that it requires a password when opened.

  1. Open the book.
  2. On the Advanced tab File (File) click Save as (Save As).
  3. Click on Service (Tools) and select Common parameters (General Options).
  4. In the Password to open (Password to open) enter the password and press OK.
  5. Confirm password and press again OK.

Note: This function encrypts the Excel file. If you have lost or forgotten your password, you will not be able to recover it.

  1. Enter a filename and click Save (Save).

Now, when you open a file, Excel will ask for a password.
