Legendary man, tireless explorer of fragrances, Fadi Al Hadad talks about how he bit by bit restored the formula of his latest perfume line, making a dizzying virtual immersion in the world of French fragrances in the XNUMXth century.
The passionate, rich formula leaves no doubt that it will become one of the most popular among novelty hunters. When did you realize that your life will be inextricably linked with fragrances?
As a child, I was passionate about perfumery. I was secretly examining my mom’s bottles and did not understand how such a small amount of liquid can give an unforgettable experience. And now, after 20 years of experience, while visiting the “perfume house” in Grasse, I realized that every fragrance can take you on a fabulous journey. It was then that I realized that this was a vocation.
How did you come up with the idea of finding a formula and how long did you put it into practice?
When I decided to create a perfume brand, I needed an interesting story. I wanted to bring something exciting to the perfume industry. It took four years of intense research into the history of France to discover Metre de Claude, who became the protagonist of the brand. I decided to recreate his stylish fragrances, full of luxury and sophistication.
Let’s dive into perfumery ideology. How is it developing? Perfumers create many new molecules, but are the principles of perfumery changing?
The perfume industry creates a variety of fragrances, new products appear every day. Perfumers are always on the lookout, but each of their creations is unique. A good scent is one that creates a mood playfully and is able to be loved by many.
Open the secret, which L`Arc fragrance from those that will be presented on September 4 at GUM is your personal favorite?
This is a very difficult question for me. All fragrances are good, but I prefer Evasion and Balade because they are more in line with my style and evoke emotions in me.
Moscow is a huge metropolis. You have been here more than once and are familiar with our culture and traditions. What can you say about women and have you managed to understand the “Russian character”?
It is difficult to convey the wonderful feelings that I had the opportunity to experience in Moscow. I am delighted with its splendor, architecture and history. Here you can see the relationship with the philosophy of our brand based on the richness of culture. As for Russian women, their beauty is genuine. If I see a beautiful and elegantly dressed woman, I immediately understand that she is Russian.
Fadi Al Hadad began his career with Guerlain Perfume, then worked with Loewe, Creed, Clive Christian, Micallef, Bond 9. Today, L’Arc fragrances are produced in Grasse in the same factory as Micallef. For the production of new lines, L`Arc has also signed a contract with La Factory, which is located in Paris.
