Secrets of longevity and youth

Mankind has been racking its brains over the secret of eternal youth since time immemorial. Several anti-aging treatments have been discovered and proven to be effective. But with the advent of modern technologies, new prospects have opened up in this matter.

Scientists now and then delight with the news that they have discovered a new way to combat aging, which, however, is still being tested in laboratory conditions. The most we can do is try to understand medical terms.

For example, the latest study by American scientists, the results of which were published in the journal Nature Communications, found that if you enlarge telomeres (areas of chromosomes that protect them from harmful effects), you can slow down the self-destruction of cells and thus prolong life. It has recently been found that elongated telomeres spontaneously appear in laboratory stem cells. And from them it is possible to grow tissues, organs and even whole organisms with an increased margin of safety. Experiments on mice have already confirmed this.

When miracle technologies will begin to be applied to humans (and whether they will), one can only guess. In the meantime, it remains for us to observe the old grandfather’s methods of extending life and youth, also, by the way, approved by science.

Complete sleep

Scientists have long deduced a figure: for full recovery, a person needs to sleep 8 hours a day. It is advisable to go to bed and get up at the same time, even on weekends, so as not to interfere with the internal clock.

Proper nutrition

Experts urge you to follow a complete diet and not get carried away with diets. Rankings of wonderful products are regularly compiled to help turn back the clock. Here is one of them: nuts, carrots, broccoli, yogurt, citrus fruits, blueberries, spinach, apples, pumpkin seeds, fish.

Sufficient water intake

The opinion that a person definitely needs to drink 2 liters of water a day is actually controversial. Doctors advise to deduce an individual figure for yourself according to the formula: weight multiplied by 30 (the result will be in milliliters). You need to drink plain water, everything else is equated to food. Ideal: a glass in the morning on an empty stomach and then in equal portions throughout the day between meals.

Regular sex

Scientists from the Royal Edinburgh Hospital concluded that people who make love regularly (at least 3 times a week) look, on average, 7 years younger than their peers who live less active sex lives. The focus is in the hormone endorphin, which is then thrown into the bloodstream and has a beneficial effect on the entire body.

Физическая активность

Experts from the University of San Francisco have found that exercising helps lengthen those telomeres without any laboratory technology. True, you have to sweat – at least 42 minutes every three days or 75 minutes once a week. Physical activities that can help fight aging include aerobic training, strenuous exercise, brisk walking, running, and stretching (yoga and Pilates).

Brain training

Mental stress is no less important. The choice is great – from learning foreign languages to collecting puzzles.

Positive emotions

One minute of laughter prolongs life by a quarter of an hour! It also improves immunity, trains the respiratory system and strengthens the muscles of the face. The result will not be long in coming: optimists look, on average, 10 years younger than pessimists.
