Sebaceous adenoma – benign neoplasm, symptoms, treatment

Syn.: Adenoma sebaceum.

Def .: Benign neoplasm of immature sebocytes, not fully differentiated.

Epid .: In both sexes, more often in the elderly.

Etiol .: Most often in the form of a single exanthema, etiology unknown. Multiple eruptions can occur together with sebaceous epitheliomas, cancers of the sebaceous glands in the course of the Torrego-Muir syndrome, inherited autosomal dominantly. The clinical picture of this syndrome includes: polyps of the gastrointestinal tract, malignant neoplasms of the large intestine or the genitourinary system.

Loc .: Face, hairy scalp.

Clinical: Plate-shaped, yellowish nodule, sometimes papillary, asymptomatic.

Hist .: Lobular tumor of sebaceous cells. Lamellar weaving with an increased number of basal-like or peripheral cells admixed with foam cells.

DR: Basal cell carcinoma.

But: Surgical removal due to its similarity to basal cell carcinoma.

Year: Very good.
