Many of us remember well the real sea buckthorn boom that occurred in the mid-80s of the last century. But time passed, passions subsided, and today sea buckthorn, a culture loved by many, is an obligatory inhabitant of almost every garden. Especially the berry will appeal to those who like Abkhaz cuisine, sea buckthorn berries are an indispensable component in many national dishes of this country. Varieties of garden sea buckthorn are diverse, and it can be difficult to navigate them right away.
Large varieties
Sea buckthorn, which is familiar to us, which grows in natural conditions, bears fruit with small berries weighing no more than 0,3 grams. 
While its garden variety is able to give fruits twice as large. But there are better varieties of sea buckthorn, the weight of which can reach 1,5 grams.

This type of crop gives a good harvest – one adult plant per season will give you about 17 kg of berries.
Elizabeth
Winter-hardy variety, characterized by a compact bush with a neat crown that does not need numerous formative pruning.
Each fruit reaches a weight of 1 gram, tastes vaguely reminiscent of pineapple. A berry with a long stalk, thanks to which the harvest is easy and convenient to harvest.
This variety is highly resistant to diseases and pests, characterized by a late ripening period.

Varieties of thornless sea buckthorn
Thornless sea buckthorn forms an ordinary shrub characteristic of the culture, the only difference of which is the absence of sharp thorns. 
For this variety, we should be especially grateful to the breeders, since caring for such a plant is absolutely safe for the gardener.
Giant
This variety can be presented in several varieties – plants form a shrub or a full-fledged tree. The variety is characterized by classic taste (sweet and sour), color (bright orange) and shape (cylindrical).
Altai
Sea buckthorn Altai is almost completely devoid of thorns, the ripening period falls on the last days of August. The berries are attractive, orange, medium in size, have a sweet taste. It is easy to harvest from a shrub of this variety – the fruits are easily torn off without violating the integrity of the shell.
Solar
The plant is a sprawling, impressive bush with a lush crown. The berries are characterized by a pleasant amber hue, a sweetish taste and a high content of sea buckthorn oil.
Harvest varieties
Varieties of sea buckthorn, which are characterized by high yields, have appeared relatively recently.
One such adult plant is able to give the gardener about 18 kilograms of berries, instead of the standard three.
Botanical
The variety is most common in commercial cultivation – with proper care, each adult tree is able to give up to 20 kg of berries! At the same time, the fruits ripen large, red-orange in color, are distinguished by juiciness and excellent keeping quality.
Chui
Sea buckthorn Chuyskaya forms a low compact tree, with rounded fruits with a traditional sweet and sour taste. Berries ripen in summer, each plant will give you about 12 kg.
Favorite
This variety is characterized by a medium-sized shrub, without thorns, with a whitish coating on the leaves. The culture produces bright orange fruits, tasty and juicy. The mass ripening of the crop occurs at the end of summer, the plants are resistant to frost and pest damage.
Frost-resistant varieties
Sea buckthorn, as a crop, belongs to plants for which the Siberian climate is more acceptable (if we compare, for example, Abkhazia and Our Country, sea buckthorn will be much more comfortable with us), respectively, and the culture’s resistance to cold is quite high. 
But there are varietal varieties in which this indicator is simply at an exorbitant height.
Trofimovskaya
Tall shrub with a spreading crown and large orange fruits. Elongated berries containing a large amount of ascorbic acid.
Jam
Sea buckthorn variety Jamovaya ripens in medium terms, is resistant to dry periods. The fruits are pleasant in taste, sweet and sour, most often used for processing and harvesting for future use – they are used to prepare juices, jams, and freeze.
In Katuni
Forms rounded fruits of medium size, which are fully ready for harvesting by mid-August. Plants will begin to bear fruit no earlier than the third year after planting, and will continue until the age of 12. One adult plant will give you about 15 kg of healthy and tasty berries every year.
