Scots know how to make you quit smoking

Former smokers will have to undergo a breath test for carbon monoxide, a gas produced by incomplete combustion of substances in cigarettes, before receiving the next payment. A similar experiment conducted last year among pregnant female smokers showed positive results.

The authorities plan to maintain the payment scheme for at least three months. The estimated total spent per smoker, including all associated costs, is £ XNUMX. Representatives of the city administration are confident that all expenses will pay off, as the treatment of diseases caused by smoking is much more expensive for the city.

In Scotland, which has acceded to the UN Framework Convention against Tobacco Smoking, since 2006, it has banned smoking indoors in public places. Nevertheless, this country remains one of the most smokers in Europe.

Dundee, the fourth largest city in Scotland, is the second largest tobacco addict after Glasgow. More than half of them belong to the poor.
