Sclerosing acne – symptoms, treatment and prognosis of the disease

Syn .: Acne indurata, solid facial edema of acne, persistent facial swelling in acne, persistent facial induration in acne, Morbihan’s disease, solid facial swelling in acne.

Def .: A disease characterized by a symmetrical, hard swelling of the middle part of the face and cheeks. It can occur as a complication of acne vulgaris, rosacea, or not related to these entities.

Etiol .: Not known.

Lock: Forehead, eyelids, cheeks, nasolabial folds, bridge of the nose.

Clinical: Hardened swelling of the middle part of the face changes the patient’s appearance. Sometimes it may be accompanied by erythema.

Hist .: Massive subcutaneous fibrosis, infiltration of mast cells, especially around the vessels.

DR: Swelling of the lips in Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome, elephantiasis in the course of erysipelas.

Heal: Isotretinoin alone or in combination with ketotifen for several months.

Year: It may take years to harden.
