Scientists: women find it harder to get pregnant after cesarean

Doctors have found that mothers who underwent surgery during their first birth are more likely to face difficulties when trying to conceive a second baby.

The pros and cons of a cesarean section have not ceased to be discussed and defended for more than a dozen years. There are plenty of supporters of both natural and operative childbirth. Doctors have already stated unequivocally that children born by caesarean section are no different from “naturalists”. But childbirth affects mom’s health in different ways.

Of course, there are also natural childbirths so difficult that after them, not only about the second child, you don’t even want to think about sex. But after a cesarean, as it turned out, even if you want the second one, everything can be more complicated: getting pregnant a second time is far from immediately possible, as you want.

To find out, American scientists from the Pennsylvania Medical College for three years studied more than 2 thousand women aged 18 to 35 years, “working” on the conception of a second baby. They recorded how the study participants gave birth for the first time. And then every six months we contacted them to find out how many unprotected intercourses they had during these six months and whether they led to pregnancy.

As a result, it turned out that 69% of mothers were able to conceive again naturally out of those women who had been given a cesarean. And those who went through a routine childbirth became pregnant without the help of doctors in 78% of cases. In addition, it was noted that miscarriages were more frequent in those who had surgery.

But here the scientists make a reservation: the mothers who received the cesarean had, on average, a higher average age. In addition, they were more likely to have lines of weight, and both of these factors interfere with successful conception. However, doctors cannot yet deny that a cesarean section could lead to a reproductive injury, due to which it is later more difficult to conceive.

However, harder does not mean impossible. This is eloquently indicated by the example of Oksana Samoilova, who already has four caesarean sections behind her shoulders. And some celebrities generally refused to give birth on their own – they insisted on a cesarean, because they were afraid of pain. Who exactly – see the gallery.
