PFAs are dangerous because they have the property of accumulating in the body. And, of course, not without consequences: scientists believe that these substances can cause infertility, cancer, thyroid diseases, and increased cholesterol levels. 

“These substances weaken the immune system and reduce the effectiveness of vaccines. In addition, they can cause endocrine disruption and increase the risk of autoimmune diseases. Among the risks for pregnant women is the birth of a low-weight baby ”, – says Alexey Temkin, toxicologist, Doctor of Science. 

In addition to food packaging, PFA can be found in cosmetics, in dishes with a non-stick coating, in dental floss, in substances for impregnating furniture and carpets. And even microwave popcorn is packaged in packs containing PFA. 

To minimize contact with potentially hazardous substances, experts advise to eat more homemade food, and if you eat in restaurants, then in restaurants, and not take food to go. It is recommended to choose textiles and carpets without water and dirt-repellent properties, although they are troublesome to maintain, and cook in glass, cast-iron, ceramic dishes, as well as stainless steel.
