Scientists from Montreal are alarmed in earnest: teenagers have never had such problems sleeping as in recent years. Children spend less and less time in bed, they have begun to get up more often in the middle of the night, and during the day they literally sleep on the go. A study by Canadians says gadgets are to blame for everything. Or rather, their uncontrolled use.
The experiment showed that teenagers who corresponded on the phone with friends before going to bed did not sleep well. Those who watched TV or played computer games for more than two hours slept less than eight hours. Then the guys complained of fatigue and sleepiness. And the children who were reading books at that time slept longer and felt more cheerful. Surprisingly, even a long chat on the phone can shake the biorhythms of a child, and then you can forget about healthy sleep.
“Children need to sleep to grow,” warns Christina Calamaro, research director at Alfred Dupont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. – Otherwise, problems with thinking and attention will begin, the risk of obesity and depression among young people will increase.
Scientists urge parents to control the time that their child spends in front of the screen. Prohibitions are unlikely to help, but a reasonable explanation about the harm to health will come in handy.
