American scientists have checked what is pouring from the tap in the homes of ordinary city dwellers. And they found more than 90 different pollutants in the water, including 22 types of carcinogens (arsenic, for example), as well as residual traces of disinfectants – organochlorine compounds. According to experts, such a “cocktail”, regularly entering the human body, can provoke the development of cancer.
In our country, the story is similar: after disinfection, chlorine as such does not remain in the water, but organochlorine compounds are formed, which are even more dangerous for the body. At the same time, the water is formally considered normal and meets sanitary standards.
“Drinking such water is not worth it,” says Alexander Polyakov, engineer at a filter company. – It may not cause visible harm, but it will worsen the quality of life. In addition, carcinogenic substances tend to accumulate in the body, and this can really result in health problems. “
Water from wells, wells and springs, however, is no less dangerous.
“The composition of such water can change every week depending on the amount of precipitation and other factors,” explains Alexander Polyakov. – Water, seeping through the ground, can be saturated with anything: the same arsenic, washing it out of the soil, poisons from the corpses of dead animals or landfills, which may be several kilometers from the spring.
Boiling and settling does not always work. Therefore, any water needs to be filtered – out of harm’s way.
