The loss of an unborn baby is in any case a huge stress both for the body of the one who could not become a mother, and for her psyche. And yet, as it turned out, miscarriage or premature birth have long-term consequences.
So, scientists from the University of Birmingham, having analyzed the surveys of about a million women, made an unpleasant conclusion: pregnant women who developed diabetes or hypertension while carrying a baby, then 50 percent more often complain of heart problems. Preeclampsia quadruples the risk of heart failure. And if a woman has a miscarriage or a dead baby, then at a later age she has a high risk of stroke or heart attack.
How such a dangerous connection arises, the researchers have not yet figured out. They suggested that this may be due to hormonal imbalances, overweight women and genetics.
“If a young mother had problems during pregnancy, then you need to be examined by a cardiologist, even if nothing bothers you,” the scientists emphasized. – And it is imperative to be monitored by doctors regularly and, if necessary, to carry out disease prophylaxis.
