Scientists from Bydgoszcz have developed an artificial hand. The denture will be 3D printed

Scientists from the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz have developed a fully mechanized artificial arm. The denture will be printed in 3D technology. Mass production will start soon. It allows for bending and straightening movements and a relatively precise grip. Currently, it is being tested by one of the students who was born without one arm.

Stanisław Jung from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of this university emphasizes that an artificial hand can be created within several dozen hours, and its production is cheap – the cost of one copy is about PLN 300. The hand prosthesis, which will be printed in 3D technology, does not have any motor and batteries.

The creator of the artificial hand project is Kazimierz Grandys, an anesthesiologist from the University Children’s Hospital in Krakow-Prokocim. The device was first created for 6-year-old Filip from Bydgoszcz. In just a few weeks, it will be available to all those who will need this type of prosthesis. Patients will receive 3D prints free of charge. The prosthesis has already been tested by a student from Bydgoszcz – reports rmf24.pl
