Prof. dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Grodzicki
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Grodzicki has been the Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University for Collegium Medicum since 2016, and in the years 2008-2016 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Jagiellonian University. Since 2001, he has been the head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Gerontology at the Medical Faculty of Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University and the head of the Clinical Department of Internal Diseases at the University Hospital in Krakow.
In 2002-2014 he was a national consultant in the field of geriatrics, and in 2006-2008 he was the President of the Board of the Polish Society of Hypertension. He is a specialist in internal medicine, geriatrics and hypertensiology and a European Specialist on Hypertension.
Professor Grodzicki is a member of many scientific and social organizations, including: the Scientific Council at the Minister of Health, the Committee of Clinical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the College of Geriatric Physicians in Poland, and the Academic Board of the European Geriatic Medicine Society, he is also a correspondent member of the Polish Academy Of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and the co-author of over 200 publications in the field of hypertension, geriatrics and cardiology, including several textbooks.
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Maciej Krzakowski
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Maciej Krzakowski, specialist in the field of clinical oncology and cancer radiotherapy, is the Head of the Lung and Chest Cancer Clinic of the Oncology Center-Institute. M. Skłodowskiej-Curie in Warsaw and a national consultant in the field of clinical oncology (from 1998 to the present).
Member of the Board of the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology (previously – President), the Polish Society of Oncology and the European Society of Clinical Oncology. Chairman of the National Oncology Council at the Ministry of Health (from 2015 to the present). Member of the Central Commission for Scientific Titles and Degrees.
Author or co-author of about 400 scientific publications and editor or co-editor of 26 textbooks and monographs. Editor-in-chief of the journal Oncology in Practice Kliniczna. Member of the team responsible for developing the assumptions of the National Oncological Network (2019) and the National Oncological Strategy (2019).
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Maciej Małecki
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Maciej Małecki, a specialist in internal diseases, diabetology, laboratory diagnostics and endocrinology, is the Dean of the Medical Faculty of the Jagiellonian University Medical College and the Head of the Department and Clinic of Metabolic Diseases of the Jagiellonian University Medical College.
In 1996-1999 he completed a research internship at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston affiliated with Harvard Medical School. She deals with the genetic basis of monogenic and type 2 diabetes and diabetes complications, as well as clinical trials in diabetes, in particular related to pregnancy.
He is the author and co-author of about 180 scientific articles, including about 150 original ones; his works were cited about 2017 times up to 3000 (IF about 600, Hirsch index 26).
He is a member of the Main Board of the Polish Diabetes Society (since 2007), and Past-President of the Polish Diabetes Association. He was a board member of the European Society of Clinical Investigation. Member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, EASD expert on etiological diabetes. He participates in the work of the European Group of Diabetes Genetics Experts (SGGD-EASD).
In 2001, he received the award of the Polish Diabetes Society for achievements in the field of diabetology, and in 2005 he was invited to deliver a lecture to them. Hungarian women during the PTD Congress. For outstanding scientific achievement, he was honored with the Prime Minister’s award (2006) and the team award of the Minister of Health (2009). In 2013, he received the Browicz PAU, and in 2014, the Jagiellonian Laurel and the Śniadeckiego PAN. From 2017, a member of the PAU. He is a reviewer of Endocrine Review, Diabetes, Diabetes Care, Diabetologia, Diabetic Medicine and a number of national journals, and editor of the European Journal of Clinical Investigation and Diabetologii Praktyczna. EU expert for the evaluation of research projects under the FP6, FP7 and Ideas programs. He has published in leading scientific journals in the world, including Nature Genetics, Nature Clinical Practice Neurology, New England Journal of Medicine, Diabetes, Diabetologia, Diabetes Care, Stroke, Neurology and others.
Prof. dr hab. n. farm. Małgorzata Schlegel-Zawadzka
Prof. dr hab. n. Farm. Małgorzata Schlegel-Zawadzka is a specialist in the field of bromatology – science about the health quality of food and nutrition in terms of human health, interactions between food and drugs, and the contribution of inappropriate eating and food behaviors (environmental influences) to the occurrence of civilization diseases.
She is a pharmacist, a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Krakow in 1979. After 7 years of work in the analytical laboratory and the patent and development department at Krakow Pharmaceutical Works, she was employed at the Department of Bromatology of the Pharmaceutical Faculty of the Medical Academy in Krakow, which in 1993 was merged with the Jagiellonian University on May 12.
Already as an employee of the Jagiellonian University – Collegium Medicum, she obtained further doctoral and postdoctoral degrees, and on August 4, 2011, the academic title of a pharmaceutical professor.
She was an employee of two Faculties of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the latter from 2002-2019 she was the head of the Department of Human Nutrition, and in the years 2012-2019 she was the deputy dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences for degrees and development.
Her scientific recognition and experience have been confirmed by election to the Board of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences in 2009-2013, as the only person from Poland for the last 25 years, as well as in 2011-2019 she was a representative of the Polish Food Society in the Board of the Federation of European Nutrition Societies.
She participated as an expert evaluating Framework European Programs, with the National Science Center, National Center for Research and Development, and was a member of the Medical Science Evaluation Team, and since 2008 she has been continuously appointed by successive Ministers of Higher Education and Science to the team associated with foreign cooperation, where international projects co-financed are assessed by the Ministry.
Since 2004, he has been a member of the Human Nutrition Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Actively participates in the scientific life of numerous Societies.
Her scientific work is dominated by research in the field of human nutrition, health quality of food, food preferences and the role of micro- and macroelements in human health. She deepened her knowledge about interesting issues related to nutrition and human health during scholarships in Great Britain, the USA and Germany, and by participating in 2 post-graduate studies and over 40 training courses. In the Library of the Jagiellonian University Medical College, its bibliography includes 771 items with a total score of 1309 points by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Hirsh influence factor is 13.
Prof. dr hab. n. with. Maria Olszowska
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Maria Olszowska is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, head of the Social Cardiology Laboratory of the Institute of Cardiology of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in the Department of Heart and Vascular Diseases of the Institute of Cardiology of the Jagiellonian University Medical College.
Main fields of interest of prof. dr hab. n. med. Maria Olszowska is the clinical usefulness of echocardiography in acquired valvular and congenital heart disease, the clinical significance of contrast echocardiography in ischemic heart disease, pathophysiology of cardiac arrhythmias and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
Her scientific achievements consist of 201 papers published in full in peer-reviewed domestic and foreign journals, with a total IF 104,73 (Hirsch index 13), 40 chapters in textbooks, 220 papers and reports presented at national and international conferences. He is also the editor of the monographs “Heart defects in adults”, “Kardiooncologia”, and “Kardiooncologia – continuation”.
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Maria Olszowska in the years 2004-2009 was the secretary, and in the years 2009-2011 chairman of the Board of the Heart Defects Section of the Polish Cardiac Society, 2007-2011 chairman of the Board of the Krakow Branch of the Polish Cardiac Society, 2011-2015 a member of the Main Board of the Polish Cardiac Society, and 2017-2019 – Chairwoman of the Board of the Section of Congenital Heart Defects in Juveniles and Adults of the Polish Society of Cardiology.
She received the award of the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the award of the President of the City of Krakow Honoris Gratia (2009) the medal of the Self-Government of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship for outstanding achievements in the field of cardiology (2010), the Gold Medal for Long Service on the occasion of the National Education Day (2011), the honorary badge «For merits for health »(2012), Silver Cross of Merit (2016), Medal of the National Education Commission (2016).
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Piotr Jankowski
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Piotr Jankowski is a specialist in the field of cardiology and internal diseases, professor at the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum in Krakow.
Prof. Piotr Jankowski is the ESC coordinator for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in Poland. He combines research at the Jagiellonian University with clinical practice at the University Hospital and activities in the Polish Cardiac Society and various advisory bodies dealing with epidemiology, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Member of many scientific societies, secretary (2017-2019) and member of the Main Board (2011-2015) of the Polish Cardiac Society, chairman of the Health Promotion Committee (2011-2017), chairman of the Board of the Epidemiology and Prevention Section of the Polish Society of Cardiology (2009-2011), member of the Management Board of the Krakow Medical Society (since 2011), chairman of the Council of the Public Health Foundation (since 2018).
Author of over 300 publications and scientific reports. He was the first in Poland to obtain “Accreditation in Intensive and Acute Cardiac Care”. Winner of many scientific awards (including the Polish Society of Cardiology, Polish Society of Hypertension, European Society of Hypertension, Prize of the Minister of Health, Foundation “Health Promotion”, decorations awarded by the President of Krakow “Honoris Gratia”), honored in the competition “Złoty Skalpel” 2017 “. Member of scientific councils and reviewer of over a dozen international journals, organizer of a number of international conferences and congresses, including the series of scientific conferences “Preventive Cardiology”, originator and organizer of the annual Morning Run around the Krakow Planty.
Prof. dr hab. Tomasz Zdrojewski, med
Prof. dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Zdrojewski is an internist, academic teacher and scientist at the Medical University of Gdańsk and the National Institute of Public Health-National Institute of Hygiene in Warsaw. An expert in the field of monitoring, prevention and modeling of non-communicable diseases and in health policy. From 2012, chairman of the Public Health Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Scholarship holder of the Kościuszko Foundation at OSU in Columbus (1989-1990) and the University of Boston (2013), and the Humboldt Foundation in Wuerzburg and DFG (1990-1993) in Germany. Scientific achievements: over 400 publications, including 170 original works analyzing, inter alia, health situation in Poland, published in reputable foreign journals. IF – 504 in total; KBN – 2847; number of citations – 1505; h-index according to Scopus – 24. Laureate of the individual award of the Minister of Health in 2006 and numerous national awards for scientific, organizational, didactic achievements and dissemination of science.
In the Ministry of Health: in the years 2002-2008 the secretary, and in the years 2016-2017 chairman of the Team for the preparation and implementation of the National POLKARD Program; since 2015, member of the Scientific Council at the Minister of Health and the Team for the development of maps of health needs; from 2016. expert of the Public Health Council; in 2016-2017, a member of the Team to develop systemic changes in health care, from 2018 – the Social Council “Together for Health” and teams in the field of heart failure and geriatrics. In the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland: in 2006-2010, health adviser to the President of the Republic of Poland.
In 2011-2014, a member of the Eur Soc Cardiol Scientific Committee (CPC ESC). From 2013, he was employed by the Pol Tow Kardiol Commission for cooperation with the government administration and the Parliament of the Republic of Poland. Main author or co-author of national and regional projects: NATPOL 1997, 2002 and 2011, Polish 4 Cities Project, Polish 400 Cities Project, Health for Pomeranians 2005-2013, SOPKARD 1999-2019, WOBASZ 2004-2006, WOBASZ Senior, WOBASZ II, PolSenior , NOMED-AF and the AMI-PL Registry. Co-author of the IMPACT and FRESHER analysis for Poland. Since 2015, intensive cooperation with the Duke Clinical Research Institute.
National manager of the international Euroheart Survey II project financed by the European Commission. Since 2016, the head of the nationwide project of examining the health of older people in Poland, PolSenior 2, as part of the National Health Program. It conducts intensive activities in the field of disseminating science (DUN), including for 6 years organizing a series of conferences “How to improve the health of Poles” at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
Dr. Hab. n. med. Joanna Didkowska
Dr hab. n. med. Joanna Didkowska is the head of the Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Prevention of the Oncology Center – Institute of Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie in Warsaw, as well as the head of the National Cancer Registry Team.
Dr hab. n. med. Joanna Didkowska is a member of the National Council for Oncology at the Minister of Health, a member of the Main Board of the Polish Oncological Society, a member of the Board of the Polish Society for Breast Cancer Research, a member of the Polish TNM International Union Against Cancer Committee, a member of the Polish Oncological Union and a member of the Polish Cancer Society Scientific Associations of Civilization Hazards and Public Health. He is also an editor in scientific journals and a lecturer at CMKP courses.
Main projects:
- 2004-2008 Research project “HEM – Closing the Gap – Reducing premature mortality. Baseline for monitoring health evolution following enlargement ”(EC 2003121) – co-financed by the European Commission and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. An international research project to identify and analyze the causes of health differences in premature adult mortality between the eastern and western parts of the European Union.
- 2010-2013 Creation of the first IT scientific platform in Poland for the exchange of knowledge about the risk of malignant neoplasms in Poland. The project is financed by the ERDF Innovative Economy WND-POIG.02.03.02-00-059 / 10.
- 2013-2014 Onkosys – Comprehensive IT infrastructure for cancer research. The project is financed by the ERDF Innovative Economy POIG.02.03.02-00-14 / 084/13.
- 2016- PONS-2 – Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiologic Study (PURE) research project carried out under an agreement with the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation (Health Research Institute, Hamilton, Canada).
- 2016 – Tobacco Workshops – international workshops for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe organized every two years together with the National Cancer Institute (USA).

Dr hab. Barbara Wizner
Dr hab. Barbara Wizner is an assistant professor at the Department of Internal Medicine and Gerontology at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow.
A graduate of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Jagiellonian University Medical College, major in nursing. Experience in the implementation of population studies focused on the issues of epidemiology, prevention and quality of medical care, especially in the field of cardiovascular diseases and geriatrics. Professional interests related to the education of patients and their families.
Dr. Anna Zimny-Zając
Dr Anna Zimny-Zając is the Editor-in-Chief of Medonet and the chairman of the Scientific Council of the NTZP. A biotechnologist by education.
A graduate of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Biophysics of the Jagiellonian University, major in biotechnology (specializing in medical biotechnology), defended her doctorate at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture of the University of Rzeszów. She completed two research internships abroad – in Belgium at Ghent University at VIB Department of Molecular Biomedical Research – DMBR (2007-2008) and in Spain at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) at Departamento de Ecosistemas Agroforestales (2011-2012). She has been associated with Onet since 2009.
