School textbooks: typos and mistakes

How long have you been doing homework with your child? When was the last time you read to him before bed? And – the main question: “What exactly did you read to him?” At the request of the journalists of Woman`s Day, our readers have chosen some of the weirdest pictures and shocking typos from children’s books. As they say, you can’t look without tears.

At first glance, this is an ordinary cover of the beloved story about Winnie the Pooh, but if you look closely at the faces of the characters … But no. Better not to peer. Either the artist was in a bad mood, or he specifically does not like Winnie the Pooh (as well as Donkey and especially Piglet).

OK. Forgot! Better to take the textbook “I will be literate” for the little ones. Everything is explained there in detail and with pictures. That’s just – one of two things. You need to either look at the pictures, or read the signatures to them. Otherwise, it is completely incomprehensible why a boy on skis suddenly turns out to be a boy on skates.

Next we have the world around us. Here, too, everything is not easy. It would seem like an ordinary diary of weather observations. But no! For example, here’s an assignment for Monday (November 9). The child is invited to observe the weather in the fall, and the results are entered into the table. Hmm … At the same time, at least two autumn months have already passed!

“Did the authors of the course come to their senses only in the middle of the workbook and invite children to return to the past? Remember the weather in September? And the next lesson in the notebook is dedicated to the day of the autumnal equinox. Let me remind you that this is exactly the MIDDLE of the notebook. The notebook is designed for two quarters – from September to December inclusive. You can not take into account that autumn ends in different regions of our country at different times. But HOW can you not calculate the speed of passing the course in 2nd grade? Why do the authors of textbooks ask children the question: “Remember what the weather was like on the day of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos?” Let’s say – yes, we ourselves are Orthodox, but there are also children of other confessions. And we have such in the class. What does the Intercession of the Virgin have to do with it ??? ” – the mother of the second-grader is indignant on social networks.

We continue to do our homework and move on to mathematics. I don’t know about children, but the parents were very embarrassed that the frog suddenly became the best friend of the grasshopper. Moms and dads even asked the authors to explain: what motivated the choice of such “funny friends”? ..

And we are already in the Russian language lesson. Although it is also better to rename it to a lesson in inventing new words. In particular, the authors of the workbook “My Alphabet” brought out the word “komysh” …. Parents are shocked. Not only will the child remember incorrectly, but he also argues that “there can be no mistakes in the textbook!”

And finally – some literature. As they say, you can’t throw out words from a song, it is a classic, but will a sixth grader, for example, understand it?
