Is school insurance compulsory?
To see all the school insurance offered by parents’ associations at the start of the school year, everything suggests that it is compulsory. However, legally, This is not the case. On the other hand, if he is not insured, your child will not be able to participate in optional activities organized by the establishment.
Compulsory school activities: do I need insurance?

Optional activities: do you need insurance?

What does school insurance cover?
School insurance brings together two types of guarantees :
– guarantee public liability, which covers material damage and bodily injury.
– guarantee “Individual accident”, which covers bodily injury suffered by the child, whether there is a responsible or not.
For this, from the start of the school year, parents’ associations present two formulas – more or less extensive – to parents. They also guarantee the accidents caused, that those suffered by the child.
Is Liability Insurance Sufficient?
Your Home insurance includes the guarantee of Public liability. So when parents subscribe to it, children are covered automatically for material and bodily injury that they can cause.
If your child is already covered by Family Multirisk insurance, and Liability insurance, school insurance may do double duty. To be checked with your insurer. Note: at the beginning of the year, you will have to request a Insurance certificate, which you will give to the school.
Individual accident cover
School insurance provides additional guarantees, specific to children’s schooling. These are in addition to the Civil Liability insurance.
It can correspond to two types of contract and always covers injury of the child:
– The guarantee of accidents of life (GAV) intervenes from a certain degree of invalidity (5%, 10% or 30% depending on the insurers). All damages in the broad sense are then reimbursed: material damage, moral damage, aesthetic damage, etc.
– The contract “Individual accident” provides for the payment of a capital in the event of disability or death.
The advantages of school insurance
