Special education institutions are part of the government system that helps children with special needs. Training is based on the following basic principles:

  • Maintaining accessible sanitary and hygienic conditions, organizing rehabilitation work.
  • Helping graduates in the process of social and labor adaptation.

The program includes all general education subjects such as Russian and mathematics. Children get acquainted with the world around them in the lessons of natural history and biology. The presentation of knowledge is adjusted in a special way and is aimed at the development of perception and the formation of imaginative thinking.

For teaching, textbooks in Braille are used, as well as a variety of textbooks of popular science, historical, economic content. There are books on the study of music, literature, art.

For children with visual impairment, a combination of volumetric type and images is used. For visually impaired students, teaching materials with large print and illustrations are provided.

Schools are equipped with tiflotechnical structures – they help to optimize and speed up the education process. With their help, visual perception is transformed into auditory and tactile perception. Also, visually impaired children get the opportunity to receive adapted optical signals – this is achieved by increasing the contrast and volume of images. This practice is not harmful to residual vision, but, on the contrary, is a means of correcting it.
