Teachings

The schizoid, unlike the epileptoid, learns unevenly. He may neglect some activities. True, this does not happen out of laziness, but for the sake of other objects. So in some areas he knows a lot, and somewhere — failures. Or better put differently: somewhere there are failures, but he knows a lot. Because he studies a lot, sits at home, in libraries, in bookstores, rummages through reference books, takes notes. Here he looks like a paranoid, but his interests are more diverse.

Like the paranoid one, he reads several books at once. But if the paranoid digs out of them only what is necessary for his monoidea, then the schizoid, even if he does not read them to the end, still works out fundamentally. The hysteroid also has many books open on different pages, but from each book he grabs a fragment with which he can shine.

A schizoid, while studying at a university, often goes to several different scientific student circles, to different courses, to other universities.

His grades are good and excellent. But this is unimportant for him. He studies because he is interested.

Creativity in a schizoid, like in a paranoid one, begins from the school bench.

During the period of study at a university, a schizoid sometimes becomes overgrown with hysteroids and hyperthymes, which strive to “write off” from him and provide him, for their part, with “connections”, communication, some self-confidence, security, acquaintance with the opposite sex. It turns out a kind of symbiosis. However, hysteroids tend to manipulatively lure intellectual property from schizoids and «not pay off.»

I wonder who goes where.

Schizoids and psychastenoids tend more towards mathematics and philosophy. It requires the ability to think abstractly, good combinatorics. So the mathematical and philosophical faculties are full of schizoid «Shuriks» from the film «Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession.» The psychological faculties of large universities (those that were universities «before perestroika») are also clogged with schizoids. There are plenty of them among certified psychologists.

In psychiatry, even less so. Why? There are many reasons. Let’s compare. The hysteroid is a “spontaneous practical” psychologist, he practices psychology in everyday life: he intrigues, manipulates everyone. He enters the Faculty of Psychology to admire himself in psychology: I am a psychologist, and you are a car mechanic? But still, the hysteroid will rather go to the theater, and not to philology-philosophy-psychology. The schizoid mother and father were not taught to manipulate, but almost all schizoid people are very interested in how the psyche works, what are the internal mechanisms of both himself (reflection) and others. The schizoid is generally interested in all kinds of mechanisms, and therefore he is a good car mechanic. So he goes to psychology in order to understand the mechanisms of memory, the interaction of perception and thinking, the structure of the worldview, and the technique of communication.

In addition, schizoids are more reflexive, more acutely aware of their problems and want to solve them through familiarization with the profession of a psychologist.

But there is another explanation. Psychology branched off from philosophy. This affected not only science, but also education. There were once faculties of philosophy in large universities, and psychological faculties then spun off from them. Well, philosophers, as we have already understood, are mostly schizoids. In addition, admission to the faculties of psychology is through an exam in mathematics. (At Moscow State University, it is usually taught by teachers from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.) Try to break through here if you belong to hysteroids, epileptoids, hyperthyms, or, what is more, sensitives. Meanwhile, these psychotypes are very necessary for the cause of psychology.

Who will quickly teach the same schizoid person expressive speech and plasticity: a schizoid or is it a hysteroid? Yes, and management in the matter of psychological assistance to people is still, perhaps, better dealt with by an epileptoid psychologist. And trainings of psychological activity should be better carried out by hyperthymia. And here it doesn’t matter that they don’t understand the philosophical depth of certain psychological concepts enough, the important thing is that in “helping psychology” they take root faster.

Let’s understand that psychology is BIG, that in it «all sorts of mothers are needed, all kinds of mothers are important.» It is impossible that only schizoids work in psychology.

At an admission interview, for example, I pay attention not only to how a student captures the similarity of world religions, but also to how plastically he picks up a dropped object from the floor. I will give preference to an applicant who writes «dream science» (we’ll teach you, it’s easy), but bursts into tears in response to a sarcastic attack about such a ge.e.y spelling mistake.

At the same time, psychology must not be made too easy. It is impossible that instead of serious trainings, only hyperthymic entertaining cultural work be carried out. The depth of study of problems also does not hurt. So, long live the schizoids!
