PSYchology

In science, schizoids are almost always generators of ideas. As part of a scientific group, they should fulfill such a role. The project manager will do the right thing if he gives free rein to the schizoid. Of course, provided that he is still a good professional. Even if he doesn’t come to work. At one time, when physicists were in fashion, and not accountants (as they are now), there was an opinion that if a physicist goes fishing, then this is necessary for physics. And in fact, a real scientist will always think about the problems that occupy him. It is known, after all, that the law of universal gravitation came to Newton’s head when he was resting under an apple tree. And Mendeleev thought so even in his sleep. And after all, he came up with the same … Not some trifle, but a periodic system that streamlined the whole world of chemical elements. And not just streamlined, but allowed in the future to discover new elements and even create those not found in nature.

One big banker decided to get a psychological education. I advised him on various aspects of psychology, including personality. Once he complained that he had one violator of discipline, with whom he could not cope. I asked him why he didn’t fire him. “Well, because it’s inhumane, because the trade union, and yet it performs a certain amount of work, can still be tolerated, but dismissal is more expensive for yourself.”

The banker and I came to the conclusion that this employee is a schizoid. And I advised the banker to give this schizoid freedom (as mentioned above). After some time, quite a bit, the schizoid, stunned by will, began to come up with one after another stunning commercial combinations.

When we talked about teaching, it was noted that there are many schizoids in mathematics. But there are many of them in physics. In my youth, I worked a lot in the Knowledge Society, through which I often had to lecture at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. It was rare to see girls among the students there. Almost all are boys, and almost all are schizoids. And then I jokingly told my fellow psychiatrists that I was now giving a series of lectures to “physoids”.

In science, the schizoid has no long-term programs, but there are long-term interests. He can delve into the problem without setting specific goals. He digs for a long time and will definitely find something.
