Features of growing potato varieties “Skarb”

Variety “Skarb” is rather unpretentious in the choice of conditions for its cultivation. However, the highest yield is obtained in the north-western regions. Potatoes easily tolerate cold and drought, but can suffer from waterlogging of the soil.

For planting potatoes, you should choose a sunny area. Fertilizers are applied to the garden in advance. To do this, you can use organic matter in the form of rotted manure or humus. Also, the variety reacts well to mineral fertilizers.

Skarba tubers tend to germinate for a long time, they should be warmed up for 2-3 weeks before planting. For seed potatoes, you should choose medium-sized root vegetables, they cannot be cut.

The variety is resistant to most diseases and pests, but there is a risk of being affected by late blight. To avoid this disease:

  • do not plant potatoes in the lowlands;
  • you need to prevent thickening of plants;
  • tubers need to germinate well;
  • use mineral fertilizers within the permissible rate;
  • select only healthy planting material;
  • to mulch the land with straw;
  • spray the bushes with kefir, garlic or iodine solution.

The soil under the potatoes should be regularly loosened and cleaned of weeds. Hilling is done several times per season. Mow the tops 2 weeks before harvesting.

The Skarb potato is a proven species that is capable of producing a decent harvest. To do this, you need to choose high-quality planting material, provide protection against late blight and waterlogging of the soil, and also spud the plant on time.
