save time

It is known that drug addiction affects many mental processes: sensation, perception, memory.

Psychologists Konstantin Blokhin and Alexander Kronik investigated the influence of hard drugs on ideas about time, including the time of one’s own life. Those who use drugs believe that they will live 20% less than their healthy peers (not 73,9 years, but 59,3 on average). For drug addicts, in general, time flows faster: with subjective timekeeping (without a clock), the length of time that seems to them a minute is on average 46 seconds, which is a quarter less than for healthy people. The results of the study were presented in July in Vancouver (Canada) at the international conference “Addiction, Meaning and Spirituality”.
