You can wrap sausages in both puff pastry and yeast butter. Some housewives prefer to buy ready-made puff pastry, as the process of preparing it takes a lot of time and effort, and also requires some culinary skills. A simple yeast dough, mixed with “fast”, instant yeast, can be prepared at home even by an inexperienced cook without any hassle. You will need: – ½ teaspoon of instant yeast; – 100 ml of milk or water; – 1 ½ cup of wheat flour; – 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter; – 1 teaspoon of sugar; – 1 chicken egg; – ½ teaspoon of finely ground salt …
Sift flour and salt, mix with dry yeast. Heat milk or water to a temperature of 25-30 ° С, melt butter in liquid and dissolve sugar. Make a depression in the flour, pour in the liquid and knead the dough. Separate the yolk from the white and add the latter to the dough. Knead until the dough is firm and elastic, add more flour or water if necessary. Divide the finished dough into 6 equal parts and roll them into neat strips 2-3 centimeters wide, twice as long as the sausages you are going to wrap in them.
You will need the yolk from the egg to grease the top of the dough with it. This will make the surface not only golden, but also glossy.
How to cook sausages in dough
You can simply wrap the sausages in the dough and bake them in the oven, or you can make this dish even more delicious by adding some additional ingredients. Take: – yeast or puff pastry, cut into 6 strips; – 6 strips of bacon; – 12 sage leaves; – 6 raw sausages; – olive oil; – 1 egg yolk.
Preheat oven to 200 ° C. In a saucepan, boil about 2-3 cups of water, dip the sage leaves in the boiling water and drain immediately through a fine sieve.
