Saridon

Saridon is a medicine taken for headaches, toothaches, muscle aches, rheumatic pains, after surgery, dysmenorrhea, pain and fever due to colds or flu. The drug is in the form of tablets and is dispensed without a prescription. The analgesic effect of Saridon occurs half an hour after taking it.

ACTION

Saridon is a combined preparation with analgesic and antipyretic properties. It is a combined drug containing paracetamol, propyphenazone and caffeine.

Saridon indications and dosage

Saridon is a pain reliever:

  1. head,
  2. teeth,
  3. muscles
  4. rheumatic,
  5. after surgery,
  6. painful menstruation,
  7. fever,
  8. in the course of a cold or flu.

Saridon is in the form of tablets and is intended for oral use. The preparation should be used as directed and not exceed the recommended dose, as it may pose a threat to your life or health. The drug should be washed down with plenty of water.

  1. Adults. 1-2 tablets up to 3 × / d.
  2. Children 12-16. rż. 1 tablet up to 3 × / d.

Saridon and contraindications

The contraindication to the use of Saridon are:

  1. hypersensitivity to paracetamol,
  2. hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, caffeine, pyrazolone derivatives, phenylbutazone or any of the ingredients of the preparation,
  3. severe liver or kidney failure,
  4. alcoholism,
  5. acute hepatic porphyria,
  6. congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenate,
  7. do not use in children up to 12 years of age,
  8. do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Saridon – warnings

  1. Do not use Saridon for more than 7 days without a doctor’s recommendation.
  2. Check that other medicines you are taking do not contain paracetamol to avoid overdosing.
  3. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of the drug.
  4. Patients with asthma, rhinitis, chronic urticaria and hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should exercise caution due to the risk of allergic reactions and anaphylactic shock.
  5. Caution should be exercised in patients with impaired liver or kidney function, mild jaundice, and haemopoietic disorders.
  6. Patients with alcoholism and those taking drugs inducing liver enzymes should exercise caution (it may be necessary to reduce the dose of drugs during treatment).
  7. Alcohol should not be consumed during treatment with the drug, as toxic liver damage may occur.
  8. People who are hungry and drink alcohol regularly are at risk of liver damage.
  9. Renal failure may (rarely) occur as a result of long-term use of paracetamol-containing medicines.
  10. Chronic headache may appear after long-term use of headache preparations.
  11. The drug has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles when taken in therapeutic doses.

Saridon with other medications

  1. Inform your doctor about all recently taken preparations.
  2. Taking paracetamol increases the effect of such blood clotting drugs as: warfarin, coumarin derivatives.
  3. Do not use Saridon with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping treatment with these preparations due to the possibility of agitation and high fever.
  4. The use of drugs that increase hepatic metabolism, such as rifampicin, antiepileptic drugs (phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine), some sleeping pills or alcohol consumption – may lead to liver toxicity, even when using the recommended doses of paracetamol.
  5. Renal impairment may occur with the combination of paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  6. Paracetamol deepens the toxic effects of zidovudine and chloramphenicol.
  7. Metoclopramide accelerates the absorption of paracetamol, and drugs that slow gastric emptying (e.g. propantheline) delay its absorption and therefore the onset of pain relief

Caution should be exercised when using: sedative drugs (barbiturates and antihistamines), benzodiazepines, sympathomimetic drugs (e.g. ephedrine), thyroxine, theophylline, oral contraceptives, cimetidine, disulfiram.

Consult your doctor immediately if you are taking any of the above-mentioned medications.

Saridon and side effects

  1. The following may occur: nausea, vomiting, headache, sleep disturbances, muscle tremors, impaired liver and / or kidney function, pruritus, urticaria, rash, erythema, angioedema.
  2. Very rare: life-threatening anaphylactic shock, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia (deficiency of all blood counts, i.e. red cells, white cells and platelets), leukopenia (reduction in white blood cells).
