Sanosvit Calcium – indications and dosage
Sanosvit Calcium is a drug recommended for the prevention and supplementation of calcium deficiency in states of increased demand for calcium, e.g. pregnancy, breastfeeding or osteoporosis. The preparation is also taken as an auxiliary in the treatment of allergy symptoms.
Drug dosage
Sanosvit Calcium is a syrup for oral use. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug.
- Adults and adolescents. 15 ml 2-3 × / day.
- Children 6-12. years of age 10 ml 2-3 × / day.
- Children up to 6 years of age 5 ml 2-3 × / day.
Sanosvit Calcium and contraindications
Contraindications to taking Sanosvit Calcium are:
- allergy to any of its ingredients,
- hypercalcemia,
- severe hypercalciuria,
- galactosemia,
- diabetes,
- do not take the drug to people with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
Sanosvit Calcium – warnings
- Blood calcium levels should be monitored during treatment with Sanosvit Calcium.
- Do not take the drug with high doses of vitamin D.
- Particular caution should be exercised in those treated with cardiac glycosides or epinephrine (risk of arrhythmias) and in those treated with tetracycline antibiotics or thiazide diuretics.
- Sanosvit Calcium should be taken with caution in renal failure, heart disease, sarcoidosis, calcium oxalate kidney stones, gout.
- People with kidney stones should drink plenty of fluids during treatment.
- Blood and urine calcium levels should be monitored in patients with mild hypercalciuria, renal failure or nephrolithiasis.
- The preparation contains sodium benzoate, which may cause allergic reactions.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking the preparation.
Sanosvit Calcium – warnings
- Oral calcium preparations reduce the absorption of tetracyclines and fluoride compounds, including fluoroquinolones (an interval of at least 3 hours between the administration of these drugs and calcium salts is recommended).
- High doses of calcium in combination with vitamin D may reduce the effect of verapamil and other calcium channel blockers.
- Calcium sprinklers administered simultaneously with cardiac glycosides (digoxin and strophanthin derivatives) intensify their effect and may lead to arrhythmias.
- Vitamin D, glucocorticosteroids, parathyroid hormone, thiazide diuretics and citric acid increase calcium absorption, while calcitonin, excess lipids and phosphates reduce calcium absorption.
- Sanosvit Calciumnasila the action of sulfonamides.
- Calcium absorption is reduced by the alkaline reaction of food, phytates (e.g. cereals), oxalates (e.g. spinach, rhubarb) and phosphates (e.g. milk and its products). Acidic food content increases calcium absorption.
Sanosvit Calcium – side effects
Sanosvit Calcium may cause side effects (when the intake of calcium exceeds 2–2,5 g / day, with long-term use or in people with renal insufficiency):
- flatulence
- constipation
- diarrhea,
- hypercalcaemia with symptoms such as anorexia, gastrointestinal disorders, muscle weakness, polyuria, kidney damage.
