Sangrita (Sangrita) – non-alcoholic addition to tequila

Drinking tequila with salt and lime was invented in the West for the sake of popularization. Non-standard presentation attracted attention to her. In Mexico, they like to drink tequila with their national tomato drink – “sangrita”. It turns out very tasty. Every tequila lover should try this combination at least once in their life.

Sangrita (translated from the Mexican language as “blood” or “blood”) is a non-alcoholic cocktail of rich scarlet color based on tomato juice, fruits, spices and salt. The drink has a pronounced sour-spicy taste and smell of tomatoes.

There are many recipes for sangrita, but none of them can be called classic. We will use the cooking technology, which, due to the availability of ingredients, is optimal for home conditions.

Ingredients:

  • red tomatoes – 850 grams;
  • oranges – 3 pieces;
  • lime – 2 jokes;
  • onions – 100 grams;
  • chili pepper (ground) – 2 teaspoons;
  • salt – 1 tablespoon;
  • sugar – 0,5 teaspoon.

The limes are replaced with one medium sized lemon. If desired, you can still add 10-15 ml of Tobasco red sauce, 50-60 grams of celery and 100 grams of fresh cucumbers to the composition.

1. Tomatoes are peeled and seeds are removed. Beat the resulting pulp with a blender until puree.

2. Squeeze juice from oranges and limes. If you don’t have a juicer, you can cut the citruses into slices and squeeze the juice by hand.

3. Cut the onion into small pieces, then chop with a blender until smooth. If other vegetables are used, do the same with them.

4. Mix tomato puree, juice, vegetables, pepper, sugar and salt in a pitcher.

5. Put the finished mixture in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.

How to drink tequila with sangrita

1. Separate. First, a shot of tequila is drunk, followed immediately by a shot of sangrita. Then you can have a bite with a thin slice of lime.

2. Together (Comlito). A favorite way of the Mexicans, they mix 200 ml of sangrita and 100 ml of tequila in one glass, resulting in a spicy low-alcohol cocktail.
